Тип урока: урок-посвящение родному городу

Цель урока:

1. Обучение коммуникативному общению, применяя ранее полученные знания;

2. развитие критического мышления (учить работать с информацией, систематизировать, выделять главное, формировать собственное мнение)

Задачи:

Образовательные:

1. совершенствовать речевые и грамматические навыки учащихся в высказывании своих мыслей на английском языке;

2. активизировать лексические навыки;

3. контроль и закрепление лексического материала;

4. знакомство с историей и достопримечательностями Железногорска

5. учить выражать собственное мнение.

Развивающие:

1. развивать навыки аудирования и чтения;

2. развивать навыки монологической и диалогической речи;

3. развивать творческие способности учащихся;

4. развивать способности к поиску, изучению и использованию страноведческого материала на английском языке.

Воспитательные:

1. воспитывать любовь к родному краю;

2. воспитывать чувство патриотизма к малой родине.

3. повышать интерес к изучению английского языка.

1. Название темы (на доске).

Подготовительный этап:

В начале работы над темой «Мой родной город» учащиеся выбирают форму проектной деятельности, которую они будут защищать на заключительном уроке по теме. Им предлагаются источники информации. На данном этапе предусматривается самостоятельная работа учащихся. По желанию они могут работать в группе или индивидуально.

Ход урока

1. Организационный момент.

Teacher: Good morning, boys and girls! Take your seats, please, and get ready for the lesson. Dear children! Look at the board and read the name of this proverb

The theme of our lesson is “My native town”. Today we shall speak а lot about our territory, region and, naturally about our native town. Some pupils have made their presentations photos and stories about Zheleznogorsk and its sights. If you are ready, let’s start.

Zheleznogorsk.

My native town is Zheleznogorsk. I agree with the English proverb «There is no place like home». I have a birthplace and I’m proud of it.

Zheleznogorsk is the youngest town in Kursk region. It was founded in 1957 as a miners’settlement. Zheleznogorsk is located in the northern part of Kursk region. My native town is not very large. There are 100,000 people living here.

Zheleznogorsk differs a lot from other provincial towns of Central Russia. There are a lot of nice squares and beautiful streets in it. The streets are long, modern and green. You can see many old and new buildings, wonderful vegetation along cobbled streets in the centre: poplars, lindens and chestnuts.

There are fourteen schools, a lot of libraries and two Palaces of Culture in Zheleznogorsk. It has three colleges. People in Zheleznogorsk go in for sports. There is a modern stadium in my town.

Zheleznogorsk has many industrial enterprises. The Michailovsky mining-processing integrated works is one of the best enterprises of the metallurgy.

People in Zheleznogorsk are hospitable and friendly. They love their native town and hope it will be better.

My Native Town Zheleznogorsk

Today Zheleznogorsk is a young, beautiful and modern town. It is especially beautiful in summer. Many flowers and trees make it really a garden. There is a tree nursery with many unique, unusual plants. The most famous and favourite place for relaxing of many people is a picturesque lake and the magnificent park of culture and recreation. But I regret that the fountain doesn`t work there. I think that it is important to rebuilt the fountain.

In recent years Zheleznogorsk has noticeably changed. While new buildings are being built old buildings are being renovated. For example, a house of culture and a cinema «Russia» were renewed some years ago. There are good opportunities for going in for sport. An indoor skating rink , a new stadium and a sport complex were being built.

Although guests of our town often say that it is like a resort there are some places which became dirty and need our trouble. People leave litter in the park and near the lake. To my mind municipal services must make order in those places and give more attention to the oak park which can be made the second zone for rest.

On the one hand Zheleznogorsk is a cosy town with wonderful nature and clean streets surrounded by greenery and flowers. On the other hand it is an industrial city. There are many factories and enterprises, which employ the residents of our town. The biggest is the Mikhailovka Mining and Ore-Dressing Complex (GOK).

Every year the industry of our town produces tons of dust and other harmful substances. Waste products of our factories get into water and atmosphere. The polluted air, water and soil are the reasons of many diseases. We know about the Chernobyl tragedy. Many people died because of radiation. It is harmful for the health of people and animals, it poisons plants.

Fortunately, it is not too late and we can solve these problems. People must form public organizations to make our enterprises stop their polluting activities. If everyone will protect the place we live in, we can make our native town better , safer and cleaner. Plant more flowers and trees, don`t leave litter in the forest, don’t burn rubbish. So, let's take care of our wonderful town!
