Урок 3

Тема: Марк Твен

.

Целu урока:

  1. закрепление навыков грамматики по теме «Артикли»;

  2. обучение монологической речи (пересказ текста);

  3. совершенствование навыков чтения и диалогической речи.

Оборудование: транскрипционные значки; портреты известных людей.

Ход урока

  1. Организационный момент

Цель: настроить учащихся на доброжелательное общение на английском языке, ознакомить с целями урока.

- Good morning, boys and girls! (Good morning, Marina Vladimirovna!)

- I аm glad to seу you. (We are glad to see you too.)

- How аrе you'? (We аrе finе, thаnk you, and how are you?)

- I'm fine, thank you.

- Who is absent today? (All pupils are present.

- And ,who is оn duty today'? (Kate is оn duty today.)

- OК. Let's start оur work.

- We shall find out if you would like to be famous and in what spheres of life you would like to become famous.

- Look at the balsckboard, please. You can see two lists of words there. Can you read the first (the second) list? Repeat the words after Nick. Read the words in pairs,

- Let’s remember the definite and indefinite articles. How do we use the definite (indefinite) articles? Open your Workbooks, page 44, exercise 23, 24.

- Let’s play the game “Snowball”. We shall remember the famous people of Great Britain. The first pupil will think of one name, the second pupil will repeat it and add another name, the next pupil will repeat two words and say one more. The winner is the pupil who will repeat the chain of all the words.

  • I think I would. I’ll do my best to become a famous artist.

  • Will you? As for me I’d like to be a famous actor or a famous pop-singer.

  2. Совершенствование навыков чтения

- A lot of people would like to be famous. Do you know Mark Twain? (Yes, we do.) What do you know about him? (He was a famous writer. He wrote a story about adventures of Tom Sawyer. He could tell funny stories.) Today we shall read one story from his life. It’s exercise 48, page 94-95. read the text to yourself and say why the old man didn’t laugh.

  • Why did literary clubs invite Mark Twain to speak? (He was well-known as a lecture.)

  • Why did a club member ask him to tell a funny story? (He wanted Mark Twain to make his uncle laugh.)

  • Did he know many funny stories? (Yes, he did. He knew a lot of funny stories.)

  • What jokes did the famous writer tell? (He told long jokes and short jokes, new jokes and old jokes.)

  • Could he make the old man laugh? (No, he couldn’t.)

  • What did the club member tell Mark Twain after the lecture? (He said that his uncle was deaf).

  • How long didn’t the old man laugh? (He didn’t laugh for ten years.).

  • Do you like the story? Why? I am sure your parents will listen to this story with great pleasure.

  • We shall learn to give a summary of this story. Look at the blackboard and finish the sentences.

  • One day the literary club … (invited him to speak).

  • Before his lecture a club member … (came to him and asked him to make his uncle laugh).

- Well done. Work in pairs and listen to each other. Use the sentences from the blackboard to make up a story. At home you will prepare the retelling of this story.

- Do you like our lesson today? What do you like to do? It’s time to say “good-bye”.
