Задача урока: 1) Развитее способностей к осуществлению продуктивных речевых действий, к логическому изложению, развитее умения высказывать свою точку зрения, личное отношение к проблеме, аргументировать свое высказывание, умение определять и формулировать собственные пути решение проблемы;

2) Формирование социально-правовой активности учащихся, дисциплинированности как формы проявления на практике правовых норм, развитее навыков школьного самоуправления, умения анализировать и давать оценку поступкам, коллективно находить пути решения проблемы;

3) Развитее страноведческой компетенции учащихся. Знакомство с организацией самоуправления в некоторых школах стран изучаемого язык;

4) Развитее речевого умения;

5) Осуществление скрытного контроля уровня речевого умения.

Оборудование: реквизит - судейские мантии, бакалаврские шапки, таблички с

обозначением учеников ролевой игры, транспарант «Teen Court», речевой материал лексика и грамматика предыдущих уроков, компьютер.

Ход урока:

T: I hope you are well and ready for work. Are you ready for good and hard work?

T: Well, today we'll talk about teens' problems

Т: Let's talk about our school and your life at school and out of school. You know we spend our best years here. We are little children when we begin to attend school. We leave it grown-ups. There are no roses without thorns: we have good days here and we have bad days here. Now, you are grown - ups and face many problems. Am I right?

T: What are they?

P _1,2,3: Possible answers

T: Oh, yes. Society has changed. Peoples roles have changed a lot too. There is much smoking and drug taking, drinking nowdays. Everything was very quiet, nobody knew anything about it. Do you agree with me?

P _l,2,3 : Possible answers

T: Right, you are! But these days things are very different. Children seem to do more as they like whether they know it's right or wrong. Do you know your rights?

P_1,2,3 : Possible answers

T: Very well indeed! To my mind young people now became more independent. They can earn money. They can leave the house earlier. At what age do the youngsters do all this? At what age are children usually independent? Do you have any problems with your friends, parents, other adults? How do you feel about all this? Who can help teenagers cope with their problems?

T: All right, I see that you know a lot and can speak perfect English. Today we are going to discuss one of teens' problem - smoking. Does it trouble you?

P _1,2,3 : Possible answers

T: We are to discuss this problem and try to prove that this is a very bad habit and perhaps some of you'll get rid of it. I hope it'll be so.

T: But remember, that a word has a great power. It can hurt, it can cure, it can lift up and it can put down. It can give birth to something good and vice verca, to something bad or wicked. I think that the power of a kind word is stronger than that of a bad word. I see that you have devided into three groups, because of your clothing and sings. Could you introduce yourselves to the people?

T: Thank you. And one more thing. It is important that we should enjoy working together. Today we'll do many interesting things to help us speak English better and enjoy studying. We should always work well and with enthusiasm. I want you to be clever students, good workers and interesting talkers. It is very nice to be a good talker. Do you agree?

Т: I think we need somebody to listen to us and to talk to us. We need somebody to understand us. So we must be able to express our thoughts correctly. We must have our own thoughts. We shall, I hope, do much work to learn to speak and to listen to the speaker. Our talk will help us understand life better. What will our talk help us do?

Sinior Judge: 1. Ladies and Gentleman, Honourable Judges. I would like to start (or to open)

our Teen Court! We have a complaint files against these, pupils.

2. Plaintiffs you are welcome. What are your complains about?

3 I'd like plaintiffs to explain their complaint

- Do you sware that your speech will be truthful, you'll say truth, only truth

and nothing exept truth?

Plaintiffs: Yes, we do!

Sinior Judge: Secretary, enter it in record (secretary enters it in record using a computer). Who would like to start?

Miss Ludmila: Teenagers in different countries smoke, use drugs and drink alcohol. It is also a serious problem in our school. We have caught some pupils several times smoking in the classroom. The law forbids smoking in school. We told them to stop, but they continued. We complaind to Teen Court.

Sinior Judge: Thank you Miss L. Now defendants, how would you respond to these complaints? Do you sware to say truth, only truth and nothing exept truth?

Alex is speaking

P _1:Yes, we do. We sware to say, truth, only truth!

Senior Judge: Secretary, enter it in record

P ₁: I have been caught smoking in the classroom. I know that smoking in the classroom is not allowed. The teachers asked me to stop, but I continued. So, the teachers complained to Teen Court.

P ₂: There is too much to complain about smoking at school. All my friends smoke, it's my body, my parents smoke and they know I smoke and do nothing about it.

Sinior Judge: It seems to me that our honourable Yudges have already taken some notes and now they are welcome with their questions, who would like to start? You can ask any qu-s you feel in order to understand the problem thoroughly.

Miss Julia is asking questions

Miss Yulya (Jidge) : Boys, do you know that smoking is forbidden everywhere in school?

P ₃ : Yes of course. But I disagree to the complaint. There is much smoking, drinking and drug - taking nowadays. And smoking is not the worst thing among them. I have problems with my parents. I'm brought up in a very strict way and I'm afraid to speak about this problem in the family. And that is why I go out so much with my friends.

Sinior Judge: Oh, I see. Yes, Miss Tanya, do you want to add something? What is it about?

Miss Tanya (Plaintiff): It's true that parents don't understand the problem, and it troubles young people. More and more teens are turning to drugs smoking and alcohol. I think teens want to express their individuality. It causes family problems. But who can help them? I think we should help teens to cope with smoking.

Sinior Yudge: Thank you! Miss T. Judges have you got any gu-s? Secretary, enter it in record.

Miss Olya: (Yudge) Yes. Defendants, do you really think, that everyone should do things, which done by others.

P ₂: I'm sorry to say this, but it can really be hard sometimes, especially when your parents hardly ever leave you alone. They always wish I was still in a nappy.

P ₁: May. I say a few words?

Sinior Judge: All right! Do please.

P ₁: I also think that smoking is a bad habit, but not the worst one. My parents say: "You are not an adult yet". See when I go on a bus or a train, I have to pay full price for the ticket. We are adults then. I'm fed up with this problem. Nobody can help us. We try to do it ourselves.

Sinior Judge: Any additions or questions to the defendants or plaintiffs?

Miss Ira(Plaintiff): I'm not the person who usually complaints, but I'm fed up with today's teens.

They want to be treated like adults, but really do nothing. They just sit round, listen to loud music and smoke and take drugs, and drink alcohol. I don't think smoking is exciting. Of cause, it causes family, personal, school problems, but what should we do and can do in schools? Sinior Judge: I think this note will finish our discussion. Honorouble Judgers would you be so kind to make the final decision? What should we do with these defendants and with smoking in school

Miss Olga (Judge): I think that we should be more careful because it just won't do! Of course it's really bad, but their parents should treat their children better, not to punish them if they don't do what they are told. The parents’ role in the family is great. Children have close relation with parents. And if a parent smokes it causes the the smoking problems with the child. I think these defendants shouldn't be punished but only have to think about their future health. They promise not to smoke at school and it will de enough.

Sinior Judge: Let it be so! Secretary, enter it in record. Our case is over. Thank you everybody. Bye.
