All learners will be able to:

  • ask Yes/NO questions to find partner’s assigned job

  • tell about common things between fishermen and farmers with some support

  • write sentences about farmer’s job with some mistakes

  • have 7-8 correct answers out of 13 in the listening task

Most learners will be able to:

  • ask different questions by using demonstrated question types to find partner’s assigned job

  • compare fishermen with farmers and tell similarities and differences with some support

  • write at least 4 sentences about farmer’s job by using given vocabulary

  • respond correctly to minimum of 10 questions while doing listening task

  • tell about similarities and differences between fishermen and farmers by using appropriate vocabulary without any support

  • write more than 4 sentences about farmer’s job by using given vocabulary

Exercise 3

• Refer students to the three columns and explain the task.

• In a weaker class, remind students about making

questions in the present simple tense and refer them

to the previous unit if necessary. Monitor as students

form questions and point out that they can use any

combination of words from the table.

• When they are ready, ask students to work in pairs to

ask and answer their questions. Remind them to use the

present simple tense in their answers.

• Refer students to the examples. Ask them to underline

the verbs.

• Discuss the examples with the whole class. Ask them if

there is a subject in the sentences and elicit that there is

not. Explain that we use the imperative to give orders or

to tell people what to do.

pairs. Check answers as a class.

Exercise 5

• Refer students to the incomplete rules and ask them to

read through them quickly. Ask them what the rules are

for and elicit they are rules for the class.

• Explain the task. Students complete the rules and check

their answers in pairs.

• In pairs, students think of more rules to add to the list.

Monitor and help out with new vocabulary or ideas as

appropriate.

• Get some feedback from each pair and put their

suggestions on the board.

you some things about it, e.g. nice places to visit, advice

• Circulate, helping out with vocabulary or ideas as

necessary. When students have finished, ask them to

tell the rest of the class their suggestions. Have a class

vote on which pair has made the best and most useful

suggestions for tourists.
