Do you know Britain?

Цели:

1) Систематизация полученных знаний по теме «Great Britain»

активизация их в устной речи.

2)Повышение познавательности интереса к изученному предмету,

раскрытие творческих способностей учащихся.

3)Создание непринуждённой атмосферы общения на английском языке.

Оборудование: слайды с видами Лондона ,Шотландии (Эдинбурга),географические

карты.

Участники: 2 команды.

Ход мероприятий.

Конкурс 1.Greetings.

Команды называют себя, показывают эмблемы и приветствуют

соперников.

Конкурс 2.Вопросы «Do you remember?»

Каждой команде предлагается по 8 вопросов о Британии, на

которые следует быстро ответить. Учитывается, как количество

правильных ответов, так и затраченное время.

Вопросы первой команде.

1.How many parts of the country are situated on the island

of Great Britain?(3)

2.What river is the capital situated on?(on the Thames)

3.Who is officially the head of the country?(Queen Elizabeth the 2)

4.What is the seat of the British government?(the Houses of Parliament)

5.Who is the National Hero of Britain, the defender of poor people?(Robin Hood)

6.What are the oldest English universities?(Oxford and Cambridge Universities)

7.What is the London residence of the Queen?(Buckingham Palace)

8.Where is London Zoo situated?(in Regent's Park)

1.How many parts are there in the United Kingdom?(4)

2.Who was the Leader of the Norman Conquest?(William the Conqueror)

3.What is the full name of the country?(the United Kingdom of Great Britain and

Northern Ireland)

4.What is the first most terrible prison in great Britain? (the Tower)

5.Who is the architect of the famous St. Paul's cathedral?(Sir Christofor Wren)

6.What is the home of the English Queen in Edinburgh?(Holyrood Palace)

7.What is a double-decker?(a bus)

8.What is Big Ben?(one of the most famous clocks in the world)

Конкурс 3. «A look at the British Geography.»

Участники команд получают карточки с описанием pегионов,-

которые предлагается назвать членам команд. Учащиеся читают и называют

регионы. Описание частей страны берётся из текстов «Discover Britain: England»

и «Scotland the Beautiful» учебник O. V. Afanasyeva I.V. Mikheeva «English 6»

Конкурс 4.Famous people. « Who Were They?»

Учащимся по очереди задают вопросы о ,

знаменитых людях Великобритании. Предлагается назвать их

имена. Сопровождается показом слайдов.

1.He was English. He was born in 1564. He was writer and actor. He dead

in 1616.(William Shakespeare)

2.He was born in 1491.He was an important monarch. Under him Britain became

independent from the Catholic Church. He had six wives.(King Henry the 8)

3.This building was rebuilt by Christopher Wren after the Great Fire of London

in 1666.It has a beautiful columns and statues. There is a famous «Whispering Gallery»

in it.(St. Paul’s Cathedral)

4. He is a great Scottish poet. He wrote a lot of poems. «My heart is in Highlands»

is one of them. Every year on the 25^th of January millions of people celebrate «his» night.

6.She was born in 1533. Her father was a great English King. Her mother was

7.He was an English general and politician. He was the leader of the Army against

King Charlie the 1 in the Civil War. Later he became Lord Protector of England.

He was born in the Fens Area in 1599. Who is he?(Oliver Cromwel)

8.She is a great-great-granddaughter of Queen Victoria. She was born in Windsor

on the twenty-first of April in 1926. She came to the throne on 1952. She married Prince

Philip in 1947. Now she has three son and one daughter.(Queen Elizabeth the 2)

Конкурс 5.Captains Competition.

Каждому из капитанов по очереди предлагаются задания:Give the name

of each tourist site/attraction. Сопровождается показом слайдов.

1. .MPs debate and argue here, and there is a clock tower with a famous bell in it.

2.This place has the monument to Admiral Nelson.(Trafalgar Square)

3.the building was rebuilt by Sir Christopher Wren after the Great Fire of London

Eros in the middle of it.(Picadilly Circus)

5.English Kings and Queens are usually married here. It also has famous “Poets’

6. It was a fortress, a royal palace and later a prison. It is a museum now.

7.This building is older than the city of Edinburgh. It stands on a huge rock and

hangs over the city. It used to be a fortrees and a royal palace.(The Castle)

8.This building is the official residence of the English Queen when she is in

9.This modest monument is a symbol of devotion. It is situated in the Old Town

in Edinburgh.(Bobby’s Monument)

10. The line of streets which runs from the Castle to Holyrood House.(Royale Mile)

Конкурс 6.

КВН завершается конкурсом английских стихов и песен. Каждая команда

должна спеть песню и рассказать стихотворение.
