Most people in the UK had the day off for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations, as Tuesday 5 June 2012 was declared a bank holiday to mark the event. A bank holiday is a day when banks and many shops and businesses close. Unlike most people, the Queen celebrates two birthdays every year. She was born in April 1926, and she also has an official birthday in the 1st week of June. June 2, 2013 marked the 60th anniversary of Her Majesty The Queen’s coronation, and a special ceremony at Westminster Abbey was held to mark the occasion.
