Make it clear that the aim here is to get a general sense of the text as a whole, not to take in all the details. Set the time limit and ask students to read quickly through to the end. If there’s something they don’t understand they should ignore it and keep doing. Ask students to cover the text and answer the question. Before looking at the text again, focus on the photos and ask students to say where the places are. Ask them to check as they re-read the text.

Аудирование: Ex2b. Play the recording while students listen and read. Pause to help with new vocabulary. Ask questions to check comprehension, for example: -Where is Craig now? –What was the first country he stayed in? –How did he feel at first? –Has he finished learning Matay? Read out the sentences or choose a students to do so. Students look back at the text to find the answer. As you check the answer, ask students to correct the false sentences and to pick out parts of the text to support the true ones.

Устная речь и игры: Ex1. Ask the questions and choose a student to read out the example. Discuss the question with the class. If they need help with ideas you could prompt them with questions, for example:

  • Has someone new come into your life?

  • Has anything changed in your home?

  • What was it like when you first went to primary school/started coming to this school?

You could add your own description of a change in your life. You may need to be sensitive to any upsetting changes which may have happened to students and if necessary spend only a short time on this activity.

Ex3. Look at the examples and ask students to translate them. Make it clear that still gives the idea of a continuing situation; any more is used in negative sentences. Draw the attention to the position of the expressions in the sentences .
