GREETING

Hello, boys and girls! How are you? What day is it today?

What is the weather like today?

WARM UP

Teacher demonstrates numbers using flashcards and after drilling attaches 1-20 on the board to play a memory game. Circle the numbers with a marker and tell learners to close their eyes. Meanwhile, put some of the numbers away. When learners open their eyes they have to recall all the missing numbers. Repeat the game until learners will be able to name all the numbers from 1-20.

Differentiation: A an alternative learners may be asked to point at the flashcards on the board according to teacher’s instructions. This will take less time and easier for some learners.

DEMONSTRATION

- teacher introduces the topic “Let’s measure” and asks sts to write down the word “measure” into their vocabularies

- teacher introduces slides with new words relating to the topic and uses 3x3 choral drilling to drill pronunciation

- teacher nominates 2-3 sts to read the new words for the class

PAIR WORK “INTERVIEW”

- teacher introduces sts to worksheets with tasks for measuring various body parts’ length and pre-teaches 3 questions sts should ask their partners:

- How long is your…? (leg, foot, etc.)

- How much does you …. (neck, waist, etc.) measure?

- How tall are you? How long is your arm? How long are your five fingers?

How long is your nose?

How big is your feet?

- task time limit is 10 minutes within which sts should find a pair and measure his/her body parts with help of measuring tapes which they get from the teacher

- in 10 minutes sts take their places and share their results

INDIVIDUAL WORK (FA)

- teacher introduces sts to the worksheet with “Read, Write and Draw” task

Additional information

Differentiation – how do you plan to give more support? How do you plan to challenge the more able learners?

Assessment – how are you planning to check learners’ learning?

Health and safety check
ICT links

Less able students – greater support by means of visuals or writing difficult words on the blackboard

More able students – independent work on definite tasks with little/no support

- Monitor sts’ work, listen to discussions, check sts’ understanding of classroom instructions

- Consider results of self-assessment and peer assessment

- Use water based markers

- Work with the SMART board not more than 10 minutes. Make short breaks.

- Ensure proper ventilation

- Monitor classroom space when sts start moving around

- Check sockets’ safety

Reflection

Were the lesson objectives/learning objectives realistic? Did all learners achieve the LO? If not, why?

Did my planned differentiation work well?

Did I stick to timings?

What changes did I make from my plan and why?
