A short story '"A trip I'll never forget"

Our trip to Gorny Altai

I’d like to tell you about my trip to Gorny Altai. It was a trip I’ll never forget. Although it happened two years ago, but I still recall this wonderful time with a great pleasure. We like travelling and every time we are confused what place to visit.

One morning I got woke up hearing my mother’s words, “ Good morning, dear. We are going to visit our relatives, get up and get ready.” We got up, had breakfast and our trip began. Gorny Altai is famous for its natural beauty. There are a lot of interesting places there: Belukha mountain, the highest peak in the Altai mountains – 4.5 thousand meters, Pazyryk mounds, Manzherok lake, and many others. Ignorant people think that here you can only admire the ridges and panoramic views, then you will be in for a big surprise. We were traveling by car and the trip took a long time. For the first time in my life I saw mountains. It was so exciting!

While we were there we visited Altai Stonehenge. The attraction is located 20 km from the village of Kosh-Agach, where our relatives live. There are ancient hieroglyphs on the huge bizarre boulders. Legends attribute ritual and mystical meanings to them.

My mom wanted to see Kamyshlinsky waterfall but my dad said, “The way there is very challenging for you.” But when she saw lake Teletskoye, she exclaimed, "This is the most bewildering place in Gorny Altai." This is a really beautiful lake surrounded by fabulous forests and mountains. There we have heard the legend that a poor shepherd found a large piece of gold in a very bad and therefore hungry year, but could not exchange it for food. He threw it into the lake from a high mountain and jumped after it in desperation. Since then, people have called the mountain and lake Golden

 At the end of our trip I did not want to leave at all, we really liked these wonderful places. But at the same time we were happy to come back home. My dad promised, “We will surely be back here again! ”
