Packaging design
Design components
01 - Color
03 - Typography
02 - Illustrations
Typically, packaging design is not limited to a solid color background with a logo - there is some kind of key image for product presentation ..
There is packaging with minimal use of illustrations or without them at all. In this case, the focus is usually on typography.
Making your packaging stand out in color is a good way to set yourself apart from the competition.
05 - Tare configuration
04 - Material
There are a lot of materials for packaging: cardboard, paper, glass, plastic, aluminum .
Brands often create unusually shaped packaging to stand out from the competition.
General stages of packaging design development
Briefing and immersion in the product. The branding agency team must study the scope of the client's business.
Analytics. We conduct market research, identify segments of the target audience, find direct and indirect competitors. Competent analysis will help in creating packaging that will sell the product.
Concept development. At this stage, it is important to consider what will be shown on the packaging, what graphic solutions and colors should be used to solve business problems.
Finding a specific visual solution. We select references and create sketches to choose the most successful design option.
5 types of packaging
2) Jewelry Packaging: Take, for example, a cardboard envelope. You usually use it as the outer layer of a package to protect something like a bar of soap. However, to provide support, you need a loser in the field of packaging. An additional layer of protection, such as a sealed transparent film under the sleeve, closes the soap and guarantees the consumer a hygienic and high quality product. It also ensures a smooth transition to our next type of packaging.
1) Boxes: Boxes are one of the most common types of packaging because they are simple and convenient. Do you want your packaging to be stable on the shelf or on the ground? Place in a box with a flat bottom and stabilizing corners. Need packaging that fits easily into a large box or shipping container? The boxes are simple. You can put anything in the box.
3) Vacuum packaging
Unlike other types of packaging such as boxes and bags, wrappers are machine applied and are often heat-sealed or vacuum sealed around the product to eliminate any risk of contamination.
4) Bottles
Bottles come in all shapes and sizes, and they are as varied as the types of liquid stored in them. You have disposable plastic bottles for things like sparkling water and spring water, and on the opposite end of the spectrum, engraved and embossed bottles that are works of art in their own right. Any kind of bottle, disposable or collectible, has a thoughtful design.
5) Jar
If your product is a liquid and you don't want to bottle it, then a can is your only option. And even if your product isn't liquid, a jar is still an option...but it's usually not the best option.
What does a packaging designer do?
The packaging designer comes up with and implements the design of packaging products of various directions and complexity - from the development of a packaging concept to pre-press and production, including the creation of illustrations and pictograms in a graphic editor, the development of cuttings, photo processing, compositing and collage, dilution of packaging design into different SKUs, pre-print preparation of layouts in accordance with the requirements of the printing house.
