Цель: расширение знания учащихся о культуре и традициях англо-язычных стран; формирование лексических и грамматических навыков.
Задачи:
Образовательные:
Развивать языковые навыки
Совершенствовать навыки аудирования и говорения
Развивать навыки самостоятельной работы
Совершенствовать слухопроизносительные навыки
Развивающие:
Развивать умения обобщать полученные знания, грамотно и чётко выражать свои мысли, применять полученные знания в новой ситуации.
Формировать мотивацию к изучению английского языка
Воспитательные
Воспитывать толерантность, уважительное отношение к культуре и традициям других народов
Формировать умение работать в команде
Оснащение: мультимедийная установка, презентация “English-speaking countries”, аудиозапись (CD MP3), раздаточный материал.
Ход мероприятия
T: Good afternoon, dear girls, boys and guests of our party. Today we shall have a competition! For this competition you have divided into two teams. Well, we can start.
The first competition
T: Your task is to read the words in transcription and say if it is a country or a language.

T: You can see the word “ENGLISH-SPEAKING” on the blackboard. Make up as many words as possible. You have only three minutes.

The third competition
T:Listen and try to guess what country it is. (Если команда готова ответить – она прерывает чтение (STOP) и называет страну. Если ответ неверный - ход переходит к другой команде.)
This country is situated in Western Europe. It is an island state. It’s one of the world’s smallest countries. There are no high mountains, no very long rivers, and no great forests in this country. It’s a real melting pot. It is a highly developed industrial country. It is one of the richest countries in the world. It is washed by two oceans: the Pacific and the Atlantic Ocean. This country has an area of nearly 10 million square kilometers. It is the second largest country in the world. Its western coast is washed by the Pacific Ocean and its eastern coast by the Atlantic Ocean. The population of the country is over 26 million people. It is a federal state. There are two official languages in this country: English and French. The emblem of this country is the maple leaf. (Canada)
This country is situated south-east of Australia. It consists of two main islands and some smaller islands. This country looks like Italy upside down. The population of the country is over three million people. The official languages are English and Maori. It is known as' the World’s Biggest Farm/ (New Zealand)
This country is the biggest island and the smallest continent in the world. The country has an area of nearly eight million square kilometers. The population of this country is over 18 million people. You can meet amazing animals in this country such as panda, kangaroo and many others. It is called sometimes “Oz” or “the Lucky Country” (The Commonwealth of Australia)

The sixth competition
T:. Imagine that you came from one of the English-speaking countries. Introduce yourself. What country are you from? What is your country famous for? What is your official language? What kind of people are there in your country?
Примерный рассказ: I am from Australia. My country is large and beautiful. Its capital is Canberra. People in my country speak English as the first official language. My country is an island continent.
Australia is famous for its amazing flora and fauna. It is the country of koalas, kangaroos and pandas. People in my country are hospitable and sociable.
Рассказ оценивается по 5-ти бальной системе. Учитывается произношение, грамматическое построение предложений, страноведческие знания учащихся.
T: So, the competition brings us to the end. Well done!
Жюри подводит итоги конкурса и команды получают грамоты.
