Television in Britain has become part of everyday life. The technological progress in this sphere of life is evident and gives people a lot of opportunities. Modern and first-rate TV sets are equipped with the powerful aerials broadcasting channels from all over the world. Film studios from different countries work hard to produce best soap operas, TV serials and quiz-shows. Times always change together with peoples’ interests, style and way of thinking. Television also needs them. But these changes are not always positive. Some TV programs are real rubbish that affects peoples’ minds. Because of it they not only teach or give information, but do much harm especially for children. Teachers blame TV for distracting kids from their studies. Doctors give evidence that “one-eyed monster” spoils their eyes.

Psychologists confirm that it ruins kids’ conscience, leads them into the world of illusions and virtuality. The violence on TV creates violence in real life. And that’s true. Telly addicts watch whatever is coming up. They don’t go anywhere, because modern TV gives everything one could desire from news or sports programmes, to theatre plays and gardening. Besides waste of time, people spend a lot of money on TV programmes and Sky TV equipment which is expensive. The problem “with” or “without” TV is solved usually in favour of “with” in spite of all the disadvantages.
