Madam Tussaud Maria Grosholts, after a merriage Tussaud. The date of her is birth 12.12.1761, Strasbourg. The daughter of officer Joseph Grosholts and Swiss Anna-Maria. Her father was lost 2 months before her birth (Seven-year war (1756-1763).

Madam Tussaud is the foundress of the Museum of the Waxworks . The girl was brought up by mother and the uncle Fillip Curtis. He has trained her art of wax modelling.

In 1802 Maria Tussaud came to London. In connection with the English-French war Maria Tussaud and her collection cannot return to France and she had to travel across the Great Britain and Ireland.  In 1835 the first constant exhibition on Baker-street in London was founded.
