Ведущая: Do you like travelling? I hope you do! So, we invite you to make an imaginary trip to one of the most amazing countries. It is not as huge as Russia, but still it`s the 4th largest one and it stretches from one ocean to another. Guess which country is it? Certainly, the USA, America, the Beautiful, as Americans call it. It is rich in unusual history culture and traditions. We`ve made our choice of only 3 points. The first one – a legendary person, Abraham Lincoln, the 16th President of the country. They say, his life is a typical of it. Life…but not death.

So, a tragic day in Lincoln`s fate.

Инсценировка “A Tragic Day in Lincoln`s Life”

Scene I

Sally: I`m so happy to live in this house. My master calls me “my little Sally”, he`s very kind to me. And m`am too. I try to be a kind and obedient girl. But it`s high time they were here for tea, otherwise they will be late for the performance.

Ah, here they are coming. Good afternoon, m`am! Good afternoon, master!

Abraham Lincoln: Sally, don`t call me “master”. You are free now, and very soon you will leave…

Sally: No, no, don`t throw me away from your house. I won`t!

Abraham Lincoln: Nobody will. But you, Sally, will study, you will be a clever and educated girl.

Sally: I can read. And I can count.

Mrs. Lincoln: Sally, you are too talkative. Go to the kitchen, Jesica is waiting for you.

Sally: Ye, m`am.

Scene II

Mary Lincoln: Abe, dear, again tablets? Something wrong with your heart or head?

Abraham Lincoln: No doctor. There is something inside me. I have a dreadful presentment and I can`t get rid of it. I feel something awful is coming nearer and nearer. I saw a terrible dream at night.

Marry Lincoln: Let`s not go to the theatre then. You`ll rest a little.

Abraham Lincoln: No, I must. I promised. All my generals, my friends will be there…

Marry Lincoln: And enemies too…

Ведущая: And the Lincolns left for the Ford`s Theatre. A very famous play “Our American Cousin” was on. It was a success with the public and the house was full.

Scene III

(at the theatre)

  1. Mr. Black is so funny! He is superb in this role.

  2. I adore him too!

  3. I personally, can`t stop laughing watching it!

  4. Well done! Well done!

(a burst of laughter)

(shooting)

  1. Oh, my Lord!

  2. Help! Help!

  3. Help me! Help me!

(суета, убийца исчезает)

Scene IV

Abraham Lincoln: Abraham Lincoln, honest Abe as people called him, was assassinated on the 14th of April 1865 in Washington during the performance “Our American Cousin”. It happened 5 days later after the Civil War had ended. Lincoln was deadly wounded and died the next morning at 7.22. he became an icon for a great number of Americans. They loved him for his honesty, intelligence and humanity. Lincoln strongly opposed slavery, he stood for giving political freedom to the black.

Booth: Let me introduce myself – John Wilkes Booth. Born into a famous actor`s family. My mother and my father were well-known for performing in Shakespearean plays. They say, I was also a gifted and promising actor. But I take pride in my political life. I was a secret agent of Confederation and I did much for it. It was me who killed the President who dreamed of freedom for negroes. Poor thing! He was only a dreamer. (cry) Villian! You are a villian!) I don`t care! My last words were addressed to my mother: “Mummy I fought for my country”. I was shot in Virginia in 2 weeks after Lincoln`s death.

Ведущая: People know that Booth is a killer, but they remember and will remember not him, but Abraham Lincoln, the person of honesty for ever.

Ведущая: Everybody knows and loves the old Wild West of America. Cowboys are strong, witty, handsome and kind young people. They are not only courageous but also gentle and devoted. They can defend and love their girl-friends and often sing beautiful songs for them.

One of them – “Oh, Susanna”

Исполняется песня “Oh, Susanna”

I come f’om Alabama wid

A banjo on my knee,

I'm going to Louisiana,

My true love for to see.

It rain’d all night da day I left,

Da weather it was dry,

Da sun so hot I froze to death;

Susanna, don't you cry.

Oh! Susanna,

Don’t you cry for me.

I've come from Alabama wid

My banjo on my knee.

I jumped aboard da telegraph,

An’ traveled down da river,

Da lectric fluid magnified,

An’ killed five hundred nigga.

Da bullgine bust, da horse ran off,

I really thought I'd die;

I shut my eyes to hold my breath,

Susanna, don’t you cry.

I had a dream da other night,

When everythin’ was still

I thought I saw Susanna

A-comin’ down de hill;

A buckwheat cake was in her mouth,

A tear was in her eye;

Says I, "I'm comin’ f’om da south,

Susanna, don’t you cry."

Ведущая: Indians and their culture played a great role in the life of American people. They contributed to American music, theatre, folk arts, modern clothes and hair styles. Indians became an important subject for American literature. Longfellow`s poem “The Song of Hiawatha” is based on Indian tales and stories. The author retells in a beautiful poetic verse how the Indians lived many centuries ago.
