Цели:

Внеклассное мероприятие по английскому языку на тему: «Christmas in English – speaking countries »

• Приобретение знаний о культуре страны изучаемого языка, о праздновании Рождества в Великобритании;

• Воспитание толерантности и уважения к культуре и традициям других стран;

• Расширение общего кругозора учащихся, усиление интереса к урокам английского языка;

• Развитие речевых умений, способности к языковой догадке, сравнению, обобщению;

• Формирование логического мышления и развитие памяти;

• Развитие умения монологической и диалогической речи у учащихся.

Формируемые в рамках урока универсальные учебные действия:

Личностные УУД:

• формирование мотивации изучения иностранного языка и смыслов учебно – познавательной деятельности;

• оценивание собственной учебной деятельности, своих достижений.

Регулятивные УУД:

• определение цели деятельности на уроке с помощью учителя;

• сотрудничество со взрослыми и сверстниками, готовность слушать

требованиями речевого этикета.

Оборудование: компьютер, мультимедийный проектор, листы, рождественские чулки.

Ход урока английского языка

Teacher: (На фоне песня «Jingle Bells») Good morning, dear students! Today we will speak about Christmas – a wonderful holiday, loved by children and grown-ups for presents, bright Christmas tree, funny Santa Claus and other things. We’ll talk about Christmas traditions in Russia and England.

Учащийся 1.(На фоне презентация)Christmas is the most popular public holiday of the year. It is celebrated on the 25th of December by Christians all over the world. The word “Christmas” is derived from the words “Christ’s Mass” – the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. Christmas in Britain is a holiday with Christmas tree, Christmas carols, wonderful candles, Christmas pudding, Christmas turkey, pantomimes and a big Christmas tree on Trafalgar Square which is usually brought from Norway as a present for English children. Christmas is a very merry and colourful holiday favoured by everybody.

Teacher: And now answer my questions:

• What holiday do English people celebrate on the 25^th of December?

• From which words is derived the word «Christmas»?

• Which things are associated with Christmas?

Teacher: Before Christians people place the evergreen tree (Christmas tree) in their homes. Children decorate the Christmas tree with tinsel, toys, shining balls and flags. They place a shining star at the top of the Christmas tree.

Teacher: You know already that Father Christmas (Santa Claus) comes into children's homes on Christmas Eve. He has a white beard and white and red clothes. He is always merry. They say he comes from the North Pole. He brings presents for the children.

Учащийся 2.Christmas is not only a time for giving presents, but for sending greeting cards. Sending card on Christmas is a comparatively modern custom. It began about the middle of the 19th century. Henry Cole was a well-known museum director. Every year he sent short notes to his friends at Christmas, wishing them a happy holiday. But in 1843 he had no time for letter-writing, so he asked an artist, John C. Horsley, to design a card with a printed massage “a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you”. Thus a Christmas card was invented. Cole decided to sell his card in a shop, and at least one thousand copies were placed on sale. By 1860 the custom of sending cards was launched. Nowadays, it is impossible to imagine Christmas without a Christmas card. A typical Christmas card has a sentimental picture of snowy country scene, birds.

Teacher: In the evening of the 24th of December children hang their Christmas stockings on their beds or put them under the Christmas tree. Father Christmas (Santa Clause) puts presents into them. A Christmas stocking is not a real stocking. It is big and beautifully decorated. (Видеоролик на тему «Christmas stockings»)

Teacher: There is a very good tradition in England to put into the Christmas stocking the plans for your future year. For example:
1) I resolve(намереваться) to keep fit.
2) I resolve to write a book.

(В Англии есть такая рождественская традиция — класть на Рождество в чулочек список своих планов на предстоящий год. А потом достать и посмотреть, что же из этого списка получилось осуществить! Например: 1.Я намереваюсь поддерживать фигуру, 2.Я намереваюсь написать книгу)

Поэтому сейчас я вам предлагаю написать список дел, которые вы собираетесь выполнить в будущем году и положить листочек в чулок, и потом вы сможете посмотреть, что из списка получилось сделать.
