Тема: «Christmas in England».
Цели урока:
образовательные:
организовать повторение лексического и страноведческого материала по данной теме;
способствовать формированию у учащихся навыков социолингвистического и лингвострановедческой компетенции;

Ход урока.
1.Организационный момент.
Good morning! I’m glad to see you! Let’s start our lesson! What season is it now? What month is it now? What is the date today?
Children, today when I enter the classroom I saw a beautiful red sack under the New Year Tree. Let us have a look what there is in it?
Oh, these are the symbols of different holidays. Who knows what holiday this symbol belongs to? (Учитель показывает символы - тыква, ёлка, яйцо, роза)

And one of the symbols of Christmas is a Christmas tree. I have some glistering Christmas balls. One ball is one fact about Christmas. Let’s decorate the NY tree with the facts about Christmas.

British people usually eat chicken with vegetables on Christmas Day.
Christmas in Britain
Christmas (Xmas), or Christmas Day, is an important and very special religious holiday for millions of people all over the world. People in Britain and many other countries of Europe celebrate this festival on 25 December. They celebrate it as the day when Jesus Christ was born and send greetings to each other. It is often cold, wet and foggy at Christmas in Britain. Families decorate their home and Christmas trees and often put candles in each window to show that Jesus Christ in the light of the world.
You can see Christmas light on the streets. People often hang them there. There are Christmas trees in squares and other important places. People decorate them with bells, bright balls, Christmas stockings, toys and lights. You can hear music from different places.
The day before Christmas is Christmas Eve. It is a very busy time for families in England. They prepare gifts, make Christmas cake, hang stockings near the fireplace. Children often write letters to Father Christmas or Santa with their wishes. Many of them believe that while they are sleeping Father Christmas comes to visit. They think he is a real old man in red with a big sack of toys, sweets and other presents. He puts them in the in the children’s stockings. On Christmas Day everybody opens their presents and sits down to table to have a big dinner. Families usually have turkey or goose with vegetables. After dinner the family often meet in the living room to listen to the monarch of England on television. At teatime in the late afternoon they drink tea with their Christmas cake.
During the holidays some people go from house to house in the evening. They ring hand bells and sing Christmas songs. Families often give them pies, nuts, fruit or a little money.
