Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni , better known as Michelangelo , was an Italian sculptor, painter, architect and poet . He is considered one of the greatest artists of the High Renaissance. Born in Florence, after the death of his mother, he lived in a family of stonemasons from the age of six. Michelangelo never paid attention at school and showed interest in painting.

The Sistine Chapel In 1508, Buonarroti was invited to paint the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. Michelangelo completed this work in record time , and completely without assistants : as much as 4 years. He painted almost 600 square meters .   Later, the artist said that this work ruined his health. At 37, he felt like an old man. From hard work, his eyes almost stopped seeing.
