One of the most important and difficult decisions in our life is choosing what to do for a living when we grow up. After leaving school millions of young people begin an independent life. They can start a working career, go into business or continue education in

technical schools, colleges or universities.

Starting life with a right profession is very important, because the future of young people depends on this choice. That is why they must choose it with utmost care analyzing all advantages and disadvantages.

Long time ago there were only a few jobs. People were farmers, bakers, butchers or carpenters. Today there are thousands of modern and interesting professions. And new ones are constantly appearing. No wonder that it’s not an easy thing to make the right choice.

So, today in the lesson we will:

• learn the definition of the term “profession”;

• talk about modern professions;

• discuss how to choose a future career;

And

• put the knowledge into practice.

A profession is a type of work that requires special training or a particular skill, especially one that needs a high level of education.

Everyone knows such old but important professions as a teacher, a baker, a doctor, a farmer and so on. But over the past several years a lot of new professions have appeared in the world. Let’s talk about some of them.
