My French Chocolate Breakfast

In England, it is common to eat a savoury breakfast, like the classic ‘English breakfast’ which includes eggs, bacon, sausages, toast, tomatoes and baked beans. At home, I usually eat this on a lazy weekend. On weekdays, I used to skip breakfast. Sometimes, I would eat some toast with marmalade, but I never really enjoyed my breakfast. However, in France, I really like breakfast. I think it’s because they eat a sweet breakfast here. There’s a particular cereal I really like. It’s called ‘chocolate muesli’. Back home, muesli is something that only health-conscious people eat: it’s a mix of oats and dried fruit. Yet in France, their chocolate muesli is the tastiest breakfast cereal I have ever eaten. I’m also a fan of pain au chocolate or which is like a croissant with a chocolate filling. Another French speciality is gaufres (waffles). I prefer to eat my waffles with a large helping of chocolate spread on top. I’ve noticed that French people often drink hot chocolate in the morning, too. It seems that it is normal in France to have chocolate for breakfast, without feeling guilty. People say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. I really enjoy my French breakfasts. It feels good to eat something tasty in the morning.
