Easter

I want to tell you about 1) Easter.

Easter is a 2) religious holiday 3) connected with 4)Jesus Christ, the son of God. The name Easter came from the 5) Scandinavian “Ostra”- 6)Goddess of spring. People in Europe use the name Paska for Easter.

Easter 7) is celebrated on the first Sunday after the 8) full moon after March the 21^st. The 9) main symbol of Easter is an egg. It’s a symbol of a new life and the sun which brings 10) warmth. It’s an old 11) tradition to colour eggs at Easter. There are two 12)kinds of Easter eggs: “pisanki” and “krashanki”. Now in many countries Easter eggs 13)are made of chocolate. There are also other symbols of Easter: Easter bread, Easter rabbits, 14)fluffy little chickens,15) lilies. English and American children think that Easter rabbit gives them sweets and eggs.

At Easter people usually go to the 16)church with bread, meat, eggs, sweets and water 17) to bless the food. Then children play a game. It’s called “Easter Egg Roll”. Children 18) roll eggs down a hill and try not 19)to break them.
