Употребление

• Действие происходило в определенный момент в прошлом : At 9 o’clock yesterday morning, the plane was flying to Paris from New York

• Действие в прошлом, которое прерывается другим действием : He was reading a newspaper when his father came

• Два одновременных действия в прошлом : He was listening while they were explaining the plan to him

Маркеры времени

• While – пока, в то время как
• When - когда
• All day/night/morning – весь день/ночь/утро (но действие уже завершено)
• Yesterday - вчера

Формы

Утвердительное предложение

I, he, she, it + was +Ving

We, you, they + were + Ving

I was learning this text all day long

Отрицательное предложение

I, he, she, it + was + not +Ving

We, you, they + were + not + Ving

I wasn‘t learning that text all day long

Вопросительное предложение

Was + I, he, she, it +Ving?

Were +we, you, they + Ving?

Were you learning that text all day long?
