You can reach England either by plane, by train, by car or by ship. The fastest way is by plane. London has three international airports: Heathrow, the largest, connected to the city by underground; Gatwick, south of London, with a frequent train service; Litton, the smallest, used for charter flights.
People in Britain drive on the left and generally overtake on the right. The speed limit is 50 km per hour in towns and cities and 110 km per hour on motorways.
When you are in London you can choose from four different means of transport: bus, train, underground or taxi. The typical bus in London is a red double-decker. The first London bus started running between Paddington and the City in 1829. It carried 40 passengers and cost a shilling for six km.
The next to arrive were the trains; now there are twelve railway stations in London. The world's first underground line was opened between Baker St. and the City in 1863. Now there are ten underground lines and 273 underground stations in use. The London underground is also called the Tube, because of the circular shape of its deep tunnels.

I LOVE RUSSIA
Russia is my homeland. It is the largest country in the world. Russia is situated in the east part of Europe and north part of Asia. The Urals form a natural border between the two continents.
There is a variety of landscape in Russia: mountains, plains, valleys and hills. Russia is rich in rivers, forests, lakes which are very beautiful.
The Volga River is the longest one in Europe. It flows into the Caspian Sea. The greatest Siberian Rivers are the Ob, the Irtysh, the Lena, the Yenisei flow into the seas of the Arctic Ocean.
Russia borders with many countries: China, Korea, and Mongolia in the East, Azerbaijan, and Georgia in the South, Belorussia, Ukraine and the Baltic States in the West. It also has a sea border with America. It is washed by three oceans: The Arctic Ocean, The Atlantic Ocean and the Pacific Ocean.
There are a lot of modern cities and small towns with ancient architecture on the vast territory of Russia. The capital of Russia is Moscow - one of the most beautiful cities in the world.
WHAT A TEST!
A poor young artist was asked to paint the portrait of a rich lady, and he did his best to make a good picture. When the portrait was finished, it was shown to the lady’s friends.
Some of them thought it was too realistic. They were afraid the lady would not like the picture. But the painter felt that he had been successful, he did not want to change anything.
Then one of his friends suggested the following: “We shall leave it to the lady’s dog to decide whether the picture is good or bad.”
The next day the picture was sent to the lady’s house where her friends had gathered to see the result of the test. As soon as the dog was brought before the portrait, it began to lick it all over. Everybody congratulated the painter.
Do you think the dog recognized its mistress?
