Monument «Fishermen»
Sculpture Fishermen is located on the waterfront of the shore of lake Onega, in Petrozavodsk. It was established in 1991. The author of the composition is the sculptor Rafael Consuegra from Duluth, USA. He was directly involved in the welding and installation of structures. According to his plan, the sculpture is a two fishermen: Russian and American, who throw the net, which should symbolize the joint work. At the same time, the nationality of each of the fishermen is difficult to determine, since they are depicted somewhat schematically. The pieces are made of bundles of metal rods and in close proximity to those fishermen face look pretty intimidating. Some time after the installation of the sculpture there were rumors that the fishermen do not have a network in their hands, but a special antenna that transmits spy information to the West. On the embankment, paved with stone, there is a whole gallery of several sculptures of twin cities of Petrozavodsk. "Fishermen" - was the first sculpture that marked the beginning of the entire gallery. Now the monument to fishermen is one of the business cards of Petrozavodsk.
- The Maritime Museum «Polar Odyssey»
Sea Museum "Polar Odyssey" was opened in 1996. Today our Museum is a "Museum without borders", because its main exhibits are working copies of historical wooden sailing ships. These ships represent Russia and Karelia at various Maritime festivals. During the tourist season, our Museum is visited daily by guests from different cities of Russia and other countries. A distinctive feature of our Museum is that we can touch everything, try on and take pictures, and, most importantly, feel like a "sea wolf" on the deck and in the cabins of old wooden ships. No other Museum in Russia offers such opportunities! The main purpose of the Museum is to preserve and promote the cultural product created by the activities of the club "Polar Odyssey" for the preservation, revival and development of national marine culture. On this basis, systematic work is underway to involve young people, residents and guests of Petrozavodsk in yachting (water recreation industry) and the development of water tourism in the waters of Karelia.

- In Karelia, in the famous land of plains and lakes, in addition to the calm glacial landscape, you can find more "dynamic" beauty. The Kivach waterfall, located in the nature reserve of the same name, is not only a natural decoration of the Karelian region, but also the second largest in Europe plain waterfall and gives way only to the Rhine. Located on the river Sune waterfall breaks raging streams down, overcoming four ledges, making it even more spectacular. The height of the waterfall is almost 11 meters. The noise produced by the power of water is also impressive. Picturesque landscape creates an extraordinary impression and attracts tourists. An ancient legend about the creation of the Kivach waterfall has reached our days. Legend has it about two sisters - the rivers Shuya and Sunnah, who loved each other so much that all the time flowed side by side. One day, the weary Sunnah decided to give way to her sister on a more comfortable bed, and she went to rest on a pebble, and fell asleep. Waking up, Sunnah found that sister Shuya already far ahead and began to catch up with her. During the chase, the Sunnah demolished everything in its path, crushed and turned the rock blocks and stones. In the place where the Sunnah broke the rock, and was born a picturesque waterfall.
Translates as "they lie"? If you do not bother searching, the first translation that can be found is "the forest, which is not worth going to." Despite the fact that this translation is fundamentally wrong, for some reason it occurs more often than others. Apparently, because of its mystery.
- The story of the mountain: puzzles and mysteriesThe complex of ancient cult stones-seids located on the mountain Vottovaara in the Western part of Karelia has become widely known recently due to unhealthy mystical excitement and sensational publications: here and anomalous zone, place of power, the remains of cyclopean structures, UFOs and other standard set of "secrets and mysteries of the Earth." Studies conducted in the early summer of 2004 by the expedition of Sklyarov allowed to clarify the situation and make a more objective picture of the monument. First of all, it turned out that despite numerous publications, the complex of seids as such on the top plateau of Vottovaary was opened by the search engine S. M. Simonyan in 1978, who was searching for the remains of soldiers of the partisan brigade of Grigoriev. Searchers have found they after a forest fire exposing the area.
Here come from all over Russia and abroad for magnificent views, beautiful sunsets and harsh northern romance.
