Ход урока I.    Speak on the topic

Good morning, boys and girls! Glad to see you. Take your sits, please. Let’s begin our lesson.

Look at the blackboard. You can see the topic of our lesson on it. Let’s read it:  Day in, Day out! What is the meaning of this title? (every day, for a long time)  What do you expect this lesson to be about? What do you think? (Things we do every day.) Today we are going to discuss the routine of one of the most famous film-star, work with the words and do some interesting tasks.

II.    Let's talk a little bit about your daily routine. P.36, look at the pictures and repeat these expressions after me.  What do you do every day? In the morning/ at noon/ in the evening/ at night/ at weekends? These pictures will help you! Very good! (ok, well done, all right)

III.     Now let’s do ex. 2. Look at this picture! Do you know him?  Who can you see in the picture? (Harry Potter)  Who’s Harry Potter and what do you know about him? (He’s the main character in the film “Harry Potter”).  He’s a famous magician, he’s a young boy, who studied magic, he’s a kind boy who likes adventures and he always helps people).  What is his daily routine like? (He gets up early, has breakfast in the canteen, goes to magic school in the morning)  What does H.P. do after school? (He does homework and has free time.)  Now we are going to do the quiz. But there are some new words in this quiz. Let’s learn them. Repeat after me. Let’s read the words again:  1) dormitory ['dɔːmɪt(ə)rɪ] – амер. студенческое общежитие  2) greenhouse ['griːnhaus] - теплица  3) common room ['kɔmən] - общая комната  4) dungeon ['dʌnʤ(ə)n] – темница  I’ll give you 3-5 minutes to do this task. Are you ready? We are going to check your answers with the help of audio recording. (1b 2c 3a 4b 5b 6b 7a 8a) Well done. Who wants to tell us the correct answers? Your mark is….  Now imagine that you are Harry Potter and tell us about your daily life. Who can do it? Very good! Your marks are…

IV.    When you explain about your daily routine what time do you use? Present Simple for the first person singular without -s. But now we are going to use Pr. S for the third person singular. What is the contrast between the verb usage? Look at the board!  Just remember about - s for the third person singular ! Look at the poster: How to add the ending –s. Verb + s     Ex: work-works Verb –ss, -sh, -ch, -x  -o  + es    Ex: miss-misses, go-goes Verb consonant –y, y changes  -i +es           Ex: study- studies Verb vowel –y, +s       Ex: play- plays

Let's do an exercise to practice how to use Pr. S SB: p.36, ex. 4. Use Pr.S. tense. Do you have any question? Is it clear? So it's OK! We can go father.          Now You can do Ex. 4 on page 37., write the third person singular. Who wants to go to the blackboard? Other pupils must do the task in your notebooks. Your mark is…

V   We are going to do the next ex.6  Look at these two sentences. Find the adverbs of frequency.  Where do we put the adverbs of frequency? We put them after the verb to be but before another verb. (On the blackboard: I am never late for classes. They usually meet in the meeting room.) You have to put the words in the correct order. Do this task 6 b) orally. If you are ready, put up your hands. All right. 6 c) Make sentences with these adverbs about yourself. (I often do my homework. I always wake up early in the morning.) Now you can do Ex. 7 on page 37. Listen and repeat. When do you pronounce ending –s 1)    as /S/ (after /f/ /k/ /p/ /t/ e.g. kicks, laughs ) 2)    as /IZ/ (after /s/ /I/ / tI/  /dз/ /z/ e.g. kisses, washes) 3)    as /Z/ (other sounds e.g. swims, plays) Add two verb to each category.

VI. Conclusion and the results. Today we have done a lot of tasks and revised Present Simple. And your active work shows that you understand the topic of our discussion. You have learned new words. I am glad. It is not the end.                VI.   HW: SB: p. 37, ex. 9.  At home you will make a short topic on theme: My typical Monday.  Write this topic in your notebooks. The lesson is over. Thank you. Good bye!
