Conclusion

• Add er and est to short adjectives of one or two syllable. E: short-shorter-the shortest
• Put more and most in front of adjectives (with two or more syllables). E: interesting – more interesting – the most interesting
• If a short adjective ends with consonant and y , change the y to i and add er and est . E: funny-funnier-the funniest

Incomparable adjectives

Some adjectives cannot be compared because it is the only degree possible:

perfect, unique, fatal, universal, dead, wrong, straight, blind, final, vertical, right, left

Exception

bad  - worse -   the worst

far -   further  - the furthest

far - farther  - the farthest

good - better  - the best

many - more  - the most

little - less  - the least

old - elder / older  - the eldest/oldest
