ABOUT IELTS

• The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is the world’s most popular English language proficiency test for higher education and global migration, with over 3 million tests taken in the last year.
• You should take  IELTS Academic: study at university at undergraduate or postgraduate level; or join a professional organization in an English-speaking country
• You should take  IELTS General Training: train or study at below degree level, work or undertake work-related training in an English-speaking country, emigrate to an English-speaking country
• IELTS is recognised by over 10,000 organizations worldwide, including educational institutions, employers, governments, immigration authorities and professional bodies.

IELTS TEST

You can choose between the Academic  or  General Training  versions of the test. All candidates do the same  Listening and  Speaking  sections. The test has four sections:

• Listening  - 4 sections, 40 questions, 30 minutes
• Speaking  - interview, 15 minutes
• Reading  - different for  Academic  or  General Training - 3 sections, 40 questions, 60 minutes
• Writing - different for  Academic  or  General  Training - 2 pieces of writing, 60 minutes

LEVELS AND SCORES

• Multi-level. You get a score between 1 and 9. Half scores such as 6.5 are possible. Universities often demand an IELTS score of 6 or 7. They may also demand a minimum score in each of the 4 sections.

IT IS NECESSARY TO GET 9.0?

Uhra Alexandrovich: I think it isn’t necessary to get 9.0. It is main not to have high score for exam, to use your skills in work and improve your English in Canada or other country. It will be effective to chat with native speakers.

To have high score-not always to have excellent skills.
