The time has come to tell you about Halloween and its origin.

Halloween is celebrated on the night of October 31st. Halloween customs date back to a time when people believed in devils,witches and ghosts.Many ancient people believed that on certain nights of the year the spirits of the deads went wandering.They also believed that on those nights people could see into the future.

  People were afraid that evil spirits might cause damage to their health and property and tried to ward them off in different ways.They painted faces,put on strange clothes,carried lights and lit huge bonfiers.All these were done to scare the ghosts and evil spirits away.The Druids gave a spark from their sacred fire to the head of each family to keep their homes safe from evil spirits.

Nowadays people do not believe in witches and evil spirits and Halloween is just an excuse for having a good time.It is celebrated in all the countries where the English,Scottish,Irish and Welsh people settled-the USA,Canada,Australia and many other places.

Typical festive Halloween activities include   trick-or-treating  ,   costume   parties , pumpkins , jack-o'-lanterns , lighting  bonfires , telling scary storie s, and watching  horror films

Nowadays on October 31 many young people in Britain arrange Halloween Parties.
