Helthy Lifestyle
Today healthy lifestyle is becoming more and more popular both with the old and the young. People have become more health-conscious. They say that the greatest wealth is health. And it’s so true. The healthier we are, the better we feel. The better we feel, the longer we live.
Keeping fit and going in for sports is also important for our health. Lack of exercise in our life is a serious problem. In big cities people spend hours sitting in front of computers, TV-sets and other gadgets.
We walk less because we mainly use cars
and public transport. We certainly don’t have to be professional sportsmen, but we should visit fitness clubs, go jogging, walk much, swim, go cycling or roller-skating or just dance.
Taking a proper rest and getting enough sleep, from 8 to 10 hours daily, are also great healthy habits. Sleep is the food for our brain and the rest for our muscles. Moreover we should avoid getting nervous or worried for no reason.
The Importance of a Balanced Healthy Diet
A balanced and healthy diet is essential for sustaining good health and well-being. Here’s why a balanced diet is important:
a) Nutrient Supply: A balanced diet includes a variety of food groups. Each group provides specific nutrients vital for the body’s proper functioning.
b) Disease Prevention: Adequate nutrition reduces the risk of diseases like heart disease, diabetes, and cancer. Consuming a balanced diet plays a key role in maintaining long-term health.
c) Overall Health: Eating a range of foods and limiting salt, sugars, and saturated fats is essential. This approach ensures optimal body function and overall well-being.
d) Growth and Development: In children, a balanced diet supports healthy growth and academic performance. It also helps minimise the risk of infections.
e) Energy and Performance: Proper nutrition ensures the body has enough fuel for daily activities. This helps maintain energy levels and overall performance.
Doctors say that regular moderate physical activity is necessary for our body because it protects us from strokes and heart diseases, flue and obesity.
Starting a Healthy Lifestyle
- Create specific, actionable goals to improve your health.
- Consume portioned nutritious foods to improve your physical and mental health.
- Drink 12 cups (3.1 L) of water per day to stay properly hydrated.
- Incorporate at least 150 minutes of moderate exercise each week.
- Allow yourself to engage in relaxing activities, like reading or socializing.
Take supplements as needed
Ask your doctor about taking supplements to get more nutrients. Taking dietary supplements is a good option when your diet isn’t giving you enough of the vitamins and nutrients you need to stay healthy. It’s definitely possible to get all the nutrients you need purely from the food you eat, but supplements are there to fill in the gaps. If you think you might benefit from taking supplements, consult with your doctor about which ones you should take.
Find a type of physical activity that’s enjoyable for you.
T he benefits of physical activity are endless. Being active lowers your risk of things like stroke and high blood pressure, helps you lose weight, improves your cognitive function, and can improve your overall mental health. Experts recommend that adults get at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic activity or 75 minutes of vigorous-intensity aerobic activity each week.
