What is a hobby? It is what you can and like to do, when you have free time. We choose a hobby according to our character and taste. When we have a hobby our life becomes more interesting. Hobbies are divided into four large classes: doing things, making things, collecting things, and learning things.

Doing things.

• Doing things is the most popular of all hobby groups. It includes a wide variety of activities, everything from gardening to travelling and from chess to volleyball.

• Planting flowers is one of the pleasant things. While planting people get not only beautiful flowers, but some new information about them.

Millions of people cannot imagine their lives without animals. Looking after some pets is even not a hobby, but a real life. Our pets give us joy and happiness asking nothing about.

• Both grown -ups and children are fond of playing different computer games . This is becoming more and more popular.

• Sport is very important in our life. It is popular among young and old people.
• Many people do morning exercises, jog in the morning, train themselves in clubs, in different sections and take part in sport competitions. Some people make sport their profession. Others go in for sport as hobby.

• Travelling is one of the ways to learn traditions, to see a lot of countries, to learn more about people’s places of interest.

Making things

• includes drawing, painting, making sculpture, designing costumes, handicrafts, cooking, knitting, sewing things, etc.

It is difficult to live without music.

Music plays a very important role in

people`s life and reflects mood and

emotions.

Some hobbyists write music or play

Collecting things.

• Almost everyone collects something at some period in his life: stamps, coins, match-boxes, books, records, postcards, toys, watches, etc,.

• Some collections have no real value. Others become so large and so valuable that they are housed in museums and galleries. Many world-famous collections started in a small way with one or two items. People with a good deal of money often collect paintings, rare books and other art objects. Often such private collections are given to museums, libraries and public galleries so that others might take pleasure in seeing them.

Learning things.

• No matter what kind of hobby a person has, he always has the opportunity of learning from it. By reading things he is interested in, he is adding to what he knows. Learning things can be the most exciting aspect of hobby.

• Books are certainly one of the greatest inventions of man.
