- In spite of being poor, you can get good medical care
- Although Russia has public health care system, it has a private sector, too.

Bad points:
- Elderly people become ill and disabled.
- Elderly people have financial problems.
- Elderly people lose friends and spouses.
- Elderly people become incapable of living independently? Need regular care and nursing.
Good points:
- The elderly don’t have to go to work.
- The elderly have adult children, who are not a burden any more.
- The elderly have a lot of time to meet with friends, read, travel, go in for sports, work in their garden.
- The elderly get wiser, have more experience and the ability to help with advice.

The welfare state is effective. Everybody is to have proper health care and education regardless of their income. The welfare state helps the disabled, people who are unable to work to earn money on their own. The welfare state system provides the elderly with an income that allows them to live some degree of dignity. Anyone below the retirement age of 65 who has previously worked for a certain minimum period of time can receive unemployment benefit which is organized by the Department of Employment.
