Biography November 30th, 1835 - Samuel Langhorne Clemens is born. Their surviving child, Clara had one daughter. She died without having any children, so there are no direct descendants of Samuel Clemens. 1847- Samuel ’ s father dies 1865 -

  • 1869 - Twain's first book, "The Innocents Abroad,« was published

  • 1848 – Sam leaves school to become a printer
  • April 21st, 1910 - Mark

Twain passes away.

  • 1858 - He becomes a steamboat pilot on the Mississippi River. Mark Twain is a river term which means the depth of water that is safe for a steam boat to navigate.
  • 1870 - Clemens married Olivia Langdon, and they had four children, one of whom died in infancy and two who died in their twenties.

The writer showed boys and girls in the novels with such sympathy and understanding that readers always see themselves in these characters.

Mark Twain protested there against slavery and one of the main characters in the novel "Huckleberry Finn" is a Negro, Jim, who is honest, brave and kind.
