My native town Miass.
From the history of my town
Miass was founded in 1773.
In 1982 it was awarded with
the order of the Red Banner
of Labour. The population is
about 290 thousand people.
It has about 2 600 industrial
enterprises. There are 43
schools, 80 kindergartens, 5
vocational schools and 3
institutes in the town. There
are 3 palaces of culture and
49 libraries.
From the history of my town
I live in the town of Miass.
It is 238 years old. Its history is connected with gold which had been found here many years ago. Gold is still found here as
well as other minerals. The
Ural mountains, where our
town is situated, are rich in
precious stones, and many
of them can be seen in our
local museum.
From the history of my town
The emblem of our town is
the elk standing on the rock.
And the elk crossing some
forest roads is not a very rare thing in our place.
Places of interest
Our town is situated in the
valley surrounded with hills
covered with forests. There
are many beautiful lakes
around the town. The lake
Turgoyak, for example, is
sometimes called «the pearl
of the South Urals» because
of its pure water. There are
many rest houses and
camps near it.
Places of interest
Our town is divided into
several residential areas.
In the old part of the town
there are many old houses,
some of them are memorial
places, as Simonov house,
for example. The truck work
situated in the centre is one
of the main enterprises in our
town. It produces trucks which
can go along very difficult roads.
There are some other industrial
enterprises in Miass, such as the
file plant, the furniture factory, and the state rocket centre.
Places of interest
Miass can hardly be called
the great cultural centre.
There is no theatre in it, the cinemas are usually empty. But it does not mean that there is no cultural life in the town.
There is an exhibition hall
in the shopping centre
«Vostok».
Our town lives a very difficult
life nowadays but I’ll try to
do my best to make it more
beautiful and happy, because
I love my native town.
