In the modern world, there is a significant strengthening of ties between individuals, organizations and states, and the interdependence between them is growing. Mankind is developing by expanding its connections and contacts. People are becoming more and more aware of themselves as a single community, where everyone is connected with many thousands of other people in all parts of the earth.   The modern world in all its diversity is one, and its parts are closely interrelated.

Today we’ll discuss а problem: 1. What is it: globalization? 2. Globalization: good or bad?

What is it: globalization?

Globalization is a process of worldwide economic, political, cultural and religious integration.

Main directions of globalisation:

The activities of transnational corporations with their branches around the world; The globalization of financial markets; International economic integration within individual regions; The creation of international organizations in the economic and financial spheres: the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, the World Trade Organization, and others.

The main causes of globalisation:

Transition from an industrial society to information, to high technologies; Transition from centralization of the economy to its decentralization; Transition from the national economy to the world economy; Transition from an alternative choice to a variety of choice; Use of new communication technologies: Internet, satellite TV.

Let’s see what advantages and disadvantages Globalization has:

- It exploits workers; It degrades the environment; Multinational corporations become more powerful, so they become less accountable for their actions; It is crushing the cultures of smaller nations.
