FOREIGN WORDS IN TEENAGER’S SLANG

The purpose of this project is studying the degrees of using of English slang in teenager’s speech.

Slang . Words, word-combinations used in a colloquial (very informal) speech. It is usually used by teenagers and low-class people. . Can include new meanings of the words and new words.

The main reasons for increasing the share of slang in the speech of the modern teenager include: . Social factors. . Media ( reading newspapers and youth magazines, watching television ).

Foreign words in teenager’s slang. Today, about a quarter of the world’s population speaks English, and another of them studies. We are faced with a situation where modern technologies are based on the English language in international scientific conferences and all the reports are published in English.

What does the role of English borrowings in the modern language?

EVERY TEENAGER FACES WITH ENGLISH WORDS:

PHOTOBOMB

Photobomb  — Фотобомба — когда человек или объект показываются на фотографии случайно или преднамеренно и в результате портят весь вид.

FAIL

  Fail   — это случайное неприятное происшествие, небольшая подстава.

SICK:

В данном случае  Sick не означает болезнь. Напротив, так говорят о чем-то, что было очень круто, захватывающе.

NOOB

A noob  — называют тех, кто не в курсе последних технических новинок, не знают  самых популярных поп-исполнителей или вообще того, что сейчас модно.

POS

«POS»    — parents over shoulder — (родители за плечом) пишут подростки друг другу в сообщениях, когда не могут написать что-то откровенное в данный момент (или ответить на заданный вопрос), потому что рядом родители (видят то, что он пишет).

HATER

A hater   — обычно кто-то, кто завидует успехам другого. Однако, когда большинство подростков использует это слово, они имеют ввиду, что другой человек разрушает их жизнь нарочно.

Slang is an important language culture of teenagers. As our research, the most productive sources of replenishment vocabulary as: . the media (internet), . technology (computer technology), . pop culture (movies, music).

CONCLUSIONS. 1. Modern teens often use English borrowings (68%) in their speech. 2. Modern teens often use English borrowings because with it easier to convey meaning, the meaning of their statements (44%). 3. And only 12% of students are opposed to the “clogging” of the native language borrowed words, although using them in their own language.
