Our Planet Earth
The Earth is one of eight planets that travel around the sun in the solar system. Of these planets, the Earth is the third nearest the sun. It is the only planet known to support life.
About 5 billion years ago, a cloud of gas and dust began to condense into a solid mass – the young Earth. At first, this mass was very cold, but later it was melted by radioactivity. Heavy metals collected at the center and rocks floated near the surface. After millions of years, the rocks formed a hard crust and the oceans and the atmosphere appeared.
Planets of the Solar system
Mercury
Mercury – neighbor of the sun. That is why it is very hot during the day and extremely cold at night. A day on mercury lasts 59 earth days. The surface of mercury is covered with craters from falling meteorites.
Venus
The day of Venus is even longer than on mercury and is 243 earth days. The surface temperature is so high that everything is covered with lava. On Venus there is an atmosphere, but it consists of such gases that a person can not breathe.
Earth
Earth is the planet we live on. It is unique for its green forests, blue seas, variety of living creatures and atmosphere. Currently, people continue to search for extraterrestrial life, but to prove its existence has not yet succeeded.
Mars
Mars is called the red planet, although recent images from research probes show that the soil on Mars is more reddish in color than red.It is believed that a long time on Mars was life similar to earth.
Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune
Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune – this is an amazing mixture of gas, ice, dust and fragments of stones. It is absolutely impossible to land a research spacecraft on such a planet. Each of these planets is surrounded by a belt of asteroids.
