 Saint Petersburg  Peter I (Peter the Great) was born on 30 May 1672 He was one of the most outstanding tsars in Russian history He played a great part in Russian history Peter I travelled much in Western Europe and he carried Western customs and habits to Russia Peter completely changed the Russian government and military system Peter I founded Saint-Petersburg in 1703

The Bronze Horseman is the statue of Peter the Great - is located in the Senate Square  - the statue was unveiled in 1782  - the horse tramples a serpent which symbolizes  envy and hostile forces  - the statue is balanced on three supports, the legs of the horse and a snake  - a rock for pedestal was found near the city  - it weighed about 1600 tons  - transporting the rock took about 2 years
