a word, robot is a new one in English language. It was created by Czech novelist Karel Čapek (1880-1938) who introduced it in his 1920 play, R.U.R ., or Rossum’s Universal Robots . Robot is from an Slavonic word, robota , for “servitude,”
“ forced labor”.
