SARATOV

The purpose of our work:

•   - create a brief tour of Saratov in English for foreign visitors, to attract their attention to the provincial cities of Russia.  To achieve the goal we have identified the following objectives:   - to determine the objects that are most significant for foreign guests;  - find information on each object;  - compose informational text in Russian;  - to interpret the information and translate it into English;  - to make the route sheet (booklet) excursions;  - test tour for a group of students who are learning English;  - to create the electronic version of the brief foray into English language in the city of Saratov;  - to summarize the work on the project.

• Object : information material of a short tour of Saratov.  Subject : lexico-grammatical methods of translation of the Russian text into English.  Hypothesis : i f we carry out the translation of information material a brief tour of Saratov, we will be able to help foreign visitors better understand the purpose and history of the significant features of the city, to get their interest and to broaden the knowledge about cities of Russia (in particular the Volga region).

• Methods:  - observation;  -the study of theoretical material;  - practical work; - questionnaire.

The practical part

• 14 people were interviewed. The students were asked three questions:
• 1) Did you enjoy the trip?
• 2) Do you understand the content of the material presented? What difficulties have arisen with the translation?
• 3) Does it have any significance for the city? If "Yes", then “what” ?

• 1) a brief digression is interesting for sixth graders, provides additional information about the city (similar answer was given by all 14 - 100%);
•   2) Trips is outlined briefly, concisely. Difficulties with the transfer to determine the limitations of vocabulary students. For foreign visitors, this aspect is not a barrier (difficulties with the transfer occurred in 21% of children);
• 3) The value of this work is to draw attention of foreign visitors to the small towns (so say 85% of respondents).
