New York

• New York City is the largest city in the USA. It is located on the Atlantic coast. The city was founded in 1624, and was called New Amsterdam. In 1664, the British captured the city and renamed it New York in honor of the initiator of capture – the Duke of York.

• «There are many apples on the tree, but only one Big Apple». The old saying is very true when we talk about New York - America's Big Apple.

• The city consists of five boroughs: the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan and Staten Island. The population of New York is over 8.4 million people.

The main attractions of New York

• The main attractions of New York are located in Manhattan: the Rockefeller Center, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Metropolitan Opera, the American Museum of Natural History, Harlem and Empire State Building. 

The Empire State Building

• The Empire State Building is a 102-story landmark Art Deco skyscraper in New York City. Its name is derived from the nickname for the state of New York, The Empire State. Following the destruction of the World Trade Center, the Empire State Building once again became the tallest building in New York City and New York State.
