         В значимости личностно-ориентированного обучения и в социализации личности закономерен интерес учителей английского языка к эффективным методам и приемам обучения. Далеко не секрет, что современные ученики не любят читать даже на родном языке. Мы считает, что наиболее эффективным методом обучения является проблемный метод, так как именно он ненавязчиво побуждает ученика работать на уроке творчески. Именно степень сформированности самостоятельной поисковой деятельности является объектом контроля чтения, которая проверяется в ходе Единого государственного экзамена у выпускников школы. Проблемно-поисковую деятельность чтения необходимо начинать как на средней ступени обучения, так и с участием младшего подросткового возраста, прививая вкус и интерес к чтению.

Поисковое чтение на младшей ступени обучения английскому языку в IV классе.


Пояснительная записка


В инвариантную часть учебного плана невозможно заложить всю информацию, адекватно отражающую культурное разнообразие поликультурного российского общества и культурно-историческое наследие народов и народностей, населяющих Россию. В этой связи, согласно Федеральному базисному плану общего среднего образования, учебный план должен включать региональный компонент.

Ученик должен уметь:

- объяснять сходства и различия в традициях своей страны, своего региона и страны изучаемого языка;

- рассказывать о себе, своем окружении, своем регионе, планах;

- описывать особенности жизни и культуры в своем регионе;

- различать региональные социокультурные реалии представителям других стран;

Регионоведение – это новое, не разработанное, перспективное направление современной методики обучения иностранным языкам.

Данная программа и методика – результат внеклассной и учебной деятельности на протяжении трех лет.

Проблемно-поисковую деятельность чтения необходимо начинать как на средней ступени обучения, так и с участием младшего подросткового возраста, прививая вкус и интерес к чтению.

Автор программы Регионоведения на уроках английского языка Чельдиева И. Х. является соавтором детской книги С. Каргиновой «Мы – дети природы». Ею переведено 129 рассказов на английский язык. Это небольшие трогательные истории о любви человека ко всему живому на Земле, сюжеты взяты из реальной жизни, действие происходит в горах Северной Осетии, в лесах Алагирского района, в наших поселках.

Вся работа над текстом чтения делится на три этапа: дотекстовый, текстовый и послетекстовый. Большое внимание уделяется дотекстовому этапу, так как именно он приводит в действие систему проблемно-поисковых заданий. Необходимо подобрать иллюстрации, которые помогут учащимся спрогнозировать тему предстоящей работы.

HARE WAS ON A VISIT


My mother had a talent. She knew the language of animals. When we lived in the cottage in the mountains she used to bring partridges, hares, little birds, foxes. It wasn’t easy to domesticate them, but she managed.

Once she brought a grey young hare. He felt like at home and we didn’t keep him in the cage. Mother often made cheese and he liked to sit near her, licking with his pink tongue. Mother gave him some cheese, he ate it very quickly and then asked for some more cheese. We called him Cunurik. He knew his name.

Time of hay–making came and mother decided to take Cunurik with us to the forest:” Let him eat grass in the forest and gambol”. Cunurik waited for a while and then decided:” East or West – Home is best”, and we could only see his white tail in the distance.

























MY LITTLE BIRTHPLACE


I thank my lucky stars that I was born in the mountains. Mountains are like the sacred monastery. There is peculiar force here, it is impossible to be weak here, and we have to live just according to their laws. Maybe that’s why I live with the help of eternal beauty and I have no right to be weak.

My dear Ksurt! You are the birthplace of my beloved mother and her forefathers. You are so dear for me! My birthplace… Our deserted nest prepares me its arms with silent grief.

I always remember everything very excitedly. The famous generation of Baskaev family is from Ksurt. There are a lot of worthy people among them. There were huge losses of this famous generation, especially during the war. Though the settlement is deep in the mountains the aftermath of war came even here.

Now this Baskaev’s birthplace became an orphan. The last who left this place was my mother. This settlement cannot be compared with any other settlement in Ossetia. Alpine meadows, constantly green pine wood, here is medicinal water – the more you drink – the more you are thirsty. There are seven sacred places in the settlement. It was forbidden to have pigs here. It was considered the desecration of the land.

Today we respect and visit the sacred place Tkhost. In former days everyone from the settlement Ksurt gathered here and made a real holiday in honour of saint Tkhost.

My uncle Dzambolat told me that if someone was absent during the celebration of saint Tkhost he was considered dead. To visit the holiday was strictly necessary for everyone. The people from this settlement had to visit the holiday wherever they were. Even today we celebrate the holiday for the purification of the soul on the last Sunday of July. Only men may visit the sacred places and women stay at home and lay the table, this sacred place of Tkhost helps to realize one’s dreams.

I spent my childhood and secure youth in that place. Here is a patrimonial tower of my forefathers. It keeps the memory about the sacred land. You look and admire its greatness: the walls are sharply polished and there are huge stones on the very top. Who could build so? Could they be people-giants? I touch the walls of this tower with my chick, the tower which is washed by the secular rains.

My land – you are a real cradle of kindness, I love you immensely and I am proud of you. The warm stones of the tower inspire peace. There are still narrow streets which are covered with stones. I want to touch everything with the magic bacillus and to put life into everything to see that far saint world of my childhood.

The Baskaev’s love their little birthplace very much and I was also engrafted that love. Every stone of the blasted tower, of the house is dear to me, these proud tops of the mountains with the incomprehensible mystery and the fly of the rock eagles in the height, this crisp cold water is transparent like a tear.

The cradle of the spring feeds the stormy stream. Silence… the rank gardens, the fruit trees which were not taken care of for a log time, the thrown fences. The door of our house again is broken by the unkind persons. Only swallows found a shelter here. They say if the swallows make their nests in the house – this is happiness. But where is this happiness in my father’s house?! When I saw everything broken and destroyed and rambled, the tears welled up into my eyes. I think the people who came to our hospitable house not once do now such things. Why do they do so? The dead see and hear everything and the time will come when these people will be asked for everything. There is nothing left scot-free. With such melancholy thoughts I went farther from our house and I didn’t even notice the sky cover with silver clouds. They gathered in order to let the rains pour.

It was getting dark, the time was standing still and the black clouds were floating silently. And now it lightened. The pouring rain began and it became stronger and stronger. There was a fluffy tree in the corner of the broken house. The birds hid at the top of the tree pressing each other. I also hid and wasn’t wet at all. Everything knows here that such a rain stops very quickly. The sun appears again. Now it smelt with freshness everywhere, the birds began catching each other with jolly chatter.

After a long walk I came back home, sat on the bench which stayed untouched by wonder, and I fell into a doze under the kind beams of the setting sun. Suddenly through the somnolence I felt as the big and kind creatures were looking at me. It was our kind secular pear. It looked at me, listened to my sad thoughts with its leaves. I remember from my childhood as my father presented this pear the second life. Silently, under the calming affable crown I listened to the story about the bygone days, about the inhabitants of this house before us and about those who left this kind and hospitable house quite recently, about the wise old men who liked to sit on this bench, about different events in this settlement both joyful and bitter. So much time passed! And more about the kind hands which planted new fruit trees with which my pear beguiles its time. There was such warmth and magnificent kindness to people in these stories.

It is quiet around. It is getting dark. The first stars appeared in the sky. The bad thoughts didn’t leave me but I was glad to visit and to see my native places and to remember my childhood and youth. And now the whole world hid under the vaults of the mysterious twinkle of the stars and bright moon…

Декорация: Лес, костер, разбросаны банки и мусор, звучит музыка.


1-ый студент: We have been resting here for the whole day. To tell you the truth, I got tired of doing nothing.


2-ой студент: Got tired? Well I never. As for me , I’m going to bring some more wood for the fire and prepare supper.


3-ий студент: Wood? Where are you going to bring it from?


2-ой студент: No problem! I’ll cut birch or oak or as they say, there are still jue trees here. If I’m lucky, I’ll try to cut a jue tree. I’m sure you have never seen jue trees in your life. Do you know Turgenev’s expression. “Nature is not a temple, but a workshop and man’s the workman in it?”: уходит.


4-ый студент: As for me , I’m fond of fishing, it’s my hobby. What about some trout for supper?


3-ий студент: We don’t mind. Did we take fishing rods with us?


4-ый студент: What is the use of a fishing rod, sitting for hours, waiting for a fish to get caught.? I brought some explosive, in some minutes you’ll eat “the tsar fish.” “Ossetia I’m in love with you, your beasts and fish and even birds in trees!”


2-ой студент: Fish? I’m not much of a fishman. I’m a hunter. I’ll kill and bring meet of a real deer for supper. Look! I have different guns with me. Let me remember Terry Hensel’s verse.

3-ий студент: I shall ramble in the wood and look for rare flowers. Ear me remember, “A thing of beauty is a joy forever.”


Ведущий: It is way of spending the week-end in the Tsey Gorge by young people. They are enough educated, by how cynically they have misinterpreted the quatations. Один за другим появляются отдыхающие.


1-ый студент: “I was not lucky today, I didn’t manage to kill any deer.”


2-ой студент: “No wonder! I wasn’t lucky either the explotion was too strong. I didn’t bring any fish.”


3-ий студент: “Here you are mushrooms and rare flowers. There were a lot of them in the wood high in the mountains, and the rest of the flowers and berries I trampled down. My favorite expression is. “Let the Flood be after me.”


4-ый студент: “Look! I didn’t find jue trees, but I brought pine, oak and birch. Don’t worry about the fire, it will be burning the whole night.”


1-ый студент: “Oh! I’m hungry and I want to sleep.”


2-ой студент: “So do I.”


1-ый студент: “I have no other objections.”


4-ый студент: “I’m of the same opinion.”

3-ий студент: “I’m afraid it isn’t enough.”

4-ый студент: “Let us go to the special institutions and ask there how we can keep our Earth clean and avoid catastrophy.”


1-ый студент: “I’ve read recently in the newspaper, there might be a conference on ecology in Alagir.”


2-ой студент: “It is interesting news! Let us go. I have a lot of questions.”

Revasova: “Ecology is a science which studies the relationship between all forms of our life on our planet with its environment. Ecology is a science about home and the idea of “home” includes the whole planet of ours, it’s population the nature, animals, birds, insects, all other living being and even the atmosphere around our planet. The intensive development of sciences, industry and chemistry in the 20-th century has made the pollution of our environment a global problem, which should be solved by all means Overpopulation pollution and energy consumption have created such planet wide problems as massive deforestation ozone depletion, acid rains and the global warming that is believed to be caused by the green-hours effect. Isn’t it high time to start solving this global problem and to make our life on our planet healthy?”


Ведущий 1: Thank you very much. Now we shall listen to the report. Vagin, the Ministry of ecology in the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania will speak.


Vagin: “The region where we live is called North Ossetia. We gain so much by getting to know the republic, which roots go back far into the past, the republic which has unique character. Ossets inhabit Central Caucasus on both side of the main Caucasian Range.

Relief of North Ossetia is extremely diverse-plains and mountains, vast foothill and numerous hollows. Mineral wealth of North Ossetia includes zinc, lead, silver, copper, various building materials.

Its numerous rivers are the important source of energy. How to keep and preserve this beauty in a good state and to use the gifts, given us by nature?

Our Government, the Ministry of Ecology and other institutions stay on guard to protect the environment in our Republic. In 1991 the First all European Consultation on developing mountain territories was provided. Our Government helped to organize this programme. The programme was extensive. Focus was made on specific problems which ecologists are faced with in our country.”/ Доклад сопровождается показом слайдов./


Ведущий 2: “Thank you. Now, the teacher of the Alagir Forest secondary school will speak.”


Ivanova: “We’re really one with nature and the feeling of being one with nature is typical for our people. Article 2 of the Low “ of the environment protection in North Ossetia says: “Citisens of North Ossetia are obliged to protect nature, to conserve its reaches, to raise ecological culture, to help ecological bringing up of the young generation.” Do we always follow this article? It seems to me, we don’t.

As the result of deforestation, many wild animals died. The Belgain capitalists cut the forests in the Alagir Gorge at the end of the 19-th century. K. Khetagurov a famous Ossetian journalist and a poet wrote that time: “I feel a great pain when I see it.” Hundreds of years ago our region was covered by thick woods. Now such place-names as Kadgaron, Dar-Kokh, Snt.Khetage’s Grove remind us of these times. Forest in our republic plays a very important part, it isn’t only a nutrient habitat for a man, but also for animals, insects, plants. It helped to delay the process of snowmelting and preserves landslips. Economic important are: hombean and birch, in some places high in the mountains we can find jue trees. The forests in our region were not protected till 1961.”

Gabueva: “Our State Reserve was founded in 1967 in Alagir region. Hounting, fishing, haying, forest cutting, all industrial activities and even staying people there are forbidden. So both wild animals and plants are preserving there in their natural habitat. 78 species of rare plants were put into the Red Data Book of North Ossetia and this year 220 species are standing on the brink. It is interesting to remark, that rare species of animals are indisis of ecological situation. Hounting in some regions and especially in Tsey is forbidden. The East Caucasian tur is the most typical inhabitant of mountain ranges. This powerful with bended homs is an emblem of the Caucasus. Thank to the work of the State Reserve, its number is growing.”


Ведущий 2: “An engineer from the Lead and Zinc Enterprise from Misur will speak.”


Hubetsova: “A painful question of pollution is air. The main polluters of air in our region are: our Enterprise and the Trans-Caucasian Highway. The waste from the factory polluted the river Ardon, the climate had changed for the worth, it was decided to build a purification system not far from the village of Unal. But it was build in a hurry, its design was poor, the great harm was caused to the gardens of Unal village. There were no pears sweeter in the wholl republic than those of that village. The wind often carries harmful substances, the whole ecological system has changed greatly. In the flood lands of the river Ardon you can not find any trout and groves of Rhamnoides.”

Студент1: “I have a question to a scientific worker. How do you fight with poarches in your State Reserve?”


-Nearly 131 of poarches were find last year.


Студент 2: “What work is providing in preserving trees?”


-Every year new forest belts are being planted in Alagir region. 2100 trees and 3020 bushes were planted last year.”


Студент 3: “I’d like to know, who helps the Ministry of Ecology in its work?”


Корреспондент: TV programmes “Iriston today” as articles in our newspapers, especially “Ecovesty” carry much information on this problem. Such measures, as “Clean air”, “Waste”, a great ecological action “ To our grandchildren” were provided last year. There are some non-formal organizations: “Ossetia’s green house” and the “Ardz”. Nature in our Republic. They are taking active part in the police of controlling the atmosphere, the water, the climate changes. They help to solve the programme “Mountains of Ossetia with a help of money.”


“Zarya”. “How much money do we spend on ecology.”

-We spend only half – per cent of our national product. It isn’t enough to solve our problems.


Студент 1: What can you say about the Zaramag Storage lake. Is it building now?

-Yes (Инженер). It is, but very slowly.


Студент 2: Will it do any harm to the environment?

-I’m afraid yes, If the Storage operates, the ecological situation will be dangerous.The mountain region in our Gorge is rather seismic, we can’t neglect this fact, to tell nothing about the lack of water in the rivers.”


Член призидиума: “ We the participants of our conference appeal to those people, who could keep our environment clean:

Pick up litter.

Save water.

Turn out the light and appliances when you are not using them.

Don’t buy Drinks in Plastic Bottles. These bottles can’t be recycled.

Use paper, not plastic.

Don’t throw your old batteries in the trash, better take them to a recycling centre.

Don’t burn the trees. Remember, each of us have to plant a tree in his life.

Help to plant the protected forest belts.

Take care of birds and animals.

Help the Ministry of Ecology to fight against water and air pollution.

The participants of our conference support all the ecological measure, which are put forward to save our region from water, air and soil pollution.

All this that we know and believe must now become the foundation of the way we live.

Ведущий: “It was only a play, but haw can we help our country to solve ecological problems?”


1-ый участник: In 1994 a brigade “Friends of ecology” was organized in our school.


2-ой участник: We helped to plant 20 hegtairs of fruit gardens. Last year a rich harvest of fruit was gathered.


3-ий участник: the wholl summer our brigade fought for the cleanest of our town, we gathered litter, cleand the water pool from the dust and litter.


4-ый участник: We were granted by the tour to the sea-side. We spend there five days, swimming and laying in the sun.

BUTTERFLY


Our summer residence is located in the most picturesque place. There are high beautiful mountains, alpine meadows, a fantastic wood, vivifying water...

The wood was burnt through the hunters’ fault. It was burning for a long time. We felt hurt when we saw it. Even animals did not disturb each other in such horror when they went down for watering. Ill natured people used this situation for their purpose. They started to kill animals.

Many animals and birds died. We couldn’t hear birds’ singing in the morning and see butterflies for a long time. They escaped.

Time passed. I visited my summer residence again. I couldn’t help admiring the beauty of this place. I got up very early and lived there in a natural way without conveniences: radio, newspapers and electricity. I went to bed at sunset and rose at dawn. Such daily routine made me calm and gave me strength.

After that fatal fire little by little the environment began to restore. Now I could see many dragonflies, may-bugs, birds, butterflies and unknown insects to me in the air.

One day a big beautiful butterfly flue to our yard early in the morning. I was very glad to see her. I stretched my hands to her and called with kind and warm words. It looked as if she understood me and she sat on my hand trustfully. She put down her wings. I felt her taking my energy. I was patiently waiting as I was glad to see her. I examined her colourful wings, black eyes, shaggy legs and short feelers.

Suddenly she trembled, as if she woke up from her sleep, sat on my head and flew away. One moment she flew back, turned round my eyes and disappeared in the trees.

I felt she was glad to see me too.

Предлагаемый сборник рассказов «Мы – дети природы» является переводом с русского языка и может быть использован как методическое пособие для развития навыков чтения, говорения, аудирования для учащихся средних классов общеобразовательных школ с углубленным изучением английского языка, а также, для лиц, самостоятельно изучающих английский язык на среднем этапе образования.

Рассказы разнообразны по тематике, языку и стилю, представляют интересный сюжетный материал, дают возможность выйти на обсуждение проблемных вопросов, легко поддаются пересказу, доступны учащимся.

Сборник состоит из двух частей. Принцип деления рассказов на две части «от простого к сложному, что также немаловажно при изучении языка.

Тексты I части – небольшие по объему. Это дает возможность проработать лексический материал, и принять участие в дискуссии без большой затраты учебного времени. Неоспоримым достоинством сборника является то, что в конце дается алфавитный словарь.

Небольшой объем текстов также позволяет учителю использовать их для аудирования и изложений.

Рассказы II части содержат более сложный языковой материал и предназначаются для самостоятельного чтения с последующим обсуждением. Тексты могут быть использованы как для уроков домашнего чтения, так и в качестве каникулярного чтения.
