The Symbols of England

The Crown Jewels of the United Kingdom , originally the Crown Jewels of England, are a collection of royal ceremonial objects kept in the Jewel House at the Tower of London, which include the coronation regalia and vestments worn by British monarchs.

The Tudor rose (sometimes called the Union rose ) is the traditional floral heraldic emblem of England and takes its name and origins from the House of Tudor.

The meanings of the colors on the flag of England are: peace , and red for bravery and hardiness. England is one of the states in the United Kingdom.

Icon of England

The famous British red boxes was designed by Sir G. G. Scott in the 1920s and 1930s. People visiting England like to take photos with red boxes.

These Red Phone Boxes are really lovely. They look unusual: very laconic and at the same time luxurious.

Double-decker

Visitors of London often prefer to travel by bus because they can see a lot of interesting places from the top of a double – decker.

Hired carriage is a carriage or a rented car. A hired carriage of a more expensive or high class was called a remise. A symbol of London and the United Kingdom, a black taxi is a common occurrence on the streets of Great Britain. Hired carriages have a "TAXI" sign on the roof, which can be illuminated, indicating their accessibility to passengers.

London Attractions

The  Elizabeth Tower  is the clock tower of the Palace of Westminster in London, England. It contains the Great Clock, a striking clock with five bells. The tower is nicknamed " Big Ben ", a name which was originally applied only to the largest bell of the clock. The tower was officially called the Clock Tower until 2012, when it was renamed to mark the Diamond Jubilee of Elizabeth II.

The Tower of London is one of the most ancient buildings of London. It was founded in the 11 century by William the Conqueror.

A Beefeater is an iconic guardian of the Tower of London, steeped in tradition and clad in striking red and gold uniforms. These ceremonial custodians, formally known as Yeomen Warders, have protected the crown jewels and royal fortress for centuries .

London   Bridge , any of several successive structures spanning the River Thames between Borough High Street in Southwark and King William Street in the City of  London . The Old  London   Bridge  of nursery rhyme fame dates from 1176, when Peter of Colechurch, a priest and chaplain of St. Mary’s of Colechurch, began construction of the foundation .

Attractions

The London Eye Ferris wheel is an iconic attraction in the city of London, England. It was designed by architects David Marks and Julia Barfield and opened to the public in March 2000. The wheel stands at an impressive 135 meters.

Westminster   Abbey , formally titled the Collegiate Church of Saint Peter at  Westminster , is an Anglican church in the City of  Westminster , London, England. Since 1066, it has been the location of the coronations of 40 English and British monarchs, and.

Trafalgar Square  is a public square in the City of Westminster, Central London, established in the early 19th century around the area formerly known as Charing Cross. The Square's name commemorates the Battle of Trafalgar, the British naval victory in the Napoleonic Wars over France and Spain that took place on 21 October 1805 off the coast of Cape Trafalgar.

Buckingham Palace is the main attraction of London. The Queen and her children use it as a place to receive guests. And tourists are so fascinated by the beauty and greatness of the creator that he has become the third most popular attraction in London .

Sherlock Holmes Museum

The Sherlock Holmes Museum  is a privately run museum in London, England, dedicated to the famous fictional detective Sherlock Holmes. It is the world's first museum dedicated to the literary character Sherlock Holmes. It opened in 1990 and is situated on Baker Street, bearing the number 221B by permission of the City of Westminster, although it lies between numbers 237 and 241, near the north end of Baker Street in central London close to Regent's Park.

Madame   Tussauds   I

s a wax  museum  founded in London in 1835 by the French wax sculptor Marie  Tussaud . While it used to be spelled as " Madame   Tussaud 's", the apostrophe is no longer used. In 1883, the restricted space of the original Baker Street site prompted  Tussaud 's grandson (Joseph Randall) to commission the building at its current London location on Marylebone Road.

WHITE CLIFFS OF DOVER

The famous chalk cliffs, dubbed the “White Cliffs of Dover", are located on the coast of Kent. Their height reaches 107 meters. The cliffs are located to the west and east of the city of Dover, which has long been considered one of the most important British ports .

SEVERN RIVER

The longest river in Great Britain is the Severn River. It is famous for the fact that it has the largest length, of course, in England. The length of its current is about 350 kilometers.

Stonehenge

The South-West of England is famous for the great stone monument of Stonehenge

Stonehenge is one of the most famous sights of England, which is a grandiose archaeological site of the Neolithic era. This ancient megalithic structure was built between 3000 and 1500 BC. Stonehenge consists of huge blocks of stone. Its exact purpose is still not known. Although archaeologists tend to conclude that Stonehenge is an ancient cemetery, or the construction of ancient astronomers to predict cosmic phenomena.

The place under name Durrington Walls is in several kilometers from a Stonehenge. There is no time here the similar complex settled down, but it was not kept up to now. And that there was any construction, began to guess only after aerophotoshooting the district made in 1922.

But this construction created still in a neolith, till our time is not has reached – it was completely wooden. Therefore it also have named Woodhenge (from English wood – "wood").

In magazine of UFO №30 for July, 19th, 2004 on page 9 Dmitry Vasileva's message " Mysterious pyramids is placed... In England ". It is informed that several years ago the group of the Russian scientists has returned from England where was engaged in studying...

The mysterious hill

It is considered to be, that the English mysticism begins in Glastonbury. It is a unique historical complex which is in the West of the Great Britain, near to the Bristol channel, in a county Somersetshire.

About it sometimes speak as about the most sacred place of Britain....

It is almost official headquarters of the British occultists, and last 50 years – and informal youth, times arrived on the well-known annual musical festival and for ever the captivated fantastic atmosphere and air impregnated by aromas.

The chalk horse

One more riddle of England – created on a slope of one of hills a cretaceous horse, which silhouette in the before sunset sun seems to something supernatural. His plays have been translated into every major living language and are performed more often than those of any other playwright . 

Shakespeare's Globe is a realistic true-to-history reconstruction of the Globe Theatre, an Elizabethan playhouse first built in 1599 for which William Shakespeare wrote his plays. It is located on the south bank of the River Thames, in the London Borough of Southwark and hosts theatrical productions.

Harry Potter  is a series of seven fantasy novels written by British author  J. K. Rowling . The novels chronicle the lives of a young wizard, Harry Potter, and his friends Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley, all of whom are students at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry . The main story arc concerns Harry's conflict with Lord Voldemort, a dark wizard who intends to become immortal, overthrow the wizard governing body known as the  Ministry of Magic , and subjugate all wizards and Muggles (non-magical people).

J.K. Rowling  (born July 31, 1965, Yate, near Bristol, England) British author, creator of the popular and critically acclaimed  Harry Potter  series, about a young sorcerer in training .

Harry Potter  is a film series based on the eponymous novels by British author J. K. Rowling. The series is produced and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures and consists of eight fantasy films, beginning with  Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone  (2001)…

Musical tour in England

In the 1960s a new band known as the Beatles burst on the pop music scene and changed it forever. The Beatles came from Liverpool, England, and were originally inspired by the simple guitar-and-washboard style " skiffle " music.

The Rolling Stones is an English rock band formed in London in 1962. Active for six decades, they are one of the most popular and enduring bands of the rock era. In the early 1960s, the Rolling Stones pioneered the gritty, rhythmically driven sound that came to define hard rock.

Pink Floyd , British rock band at the forefront of 1960s psychedelia who later popularized the concept album for mass rock audiences in the 1970s.

British traditional food

If you are going on a trip to the UK, then you can not escape from the British delicacy, the symbol of British pride — "fish and chips". It is incredible that this dish has already become part of British culture and this dish can be bought in any quarter of the country.

Yorkshire   pudding  is a popular  British  side dish that is  traditionally  served during Sunday roasts. It is made from a creamy batter consisting of flour, eggs, and milk or water. While some might think of it as a dessert, in  Britain ,  pudding  was typically a meat-based dish.

Traditional English clothes

The costume varies from team to team, but basically consists of white trousers, a white shirt, a pad of bells worn around the calf of the leg, and a hat made of felt or straw, decorated with ribbons and flowers. The bells and ribbons are said to banish harm and bring fertility. Morris dancing was originally an all-male tradition, but now some teams feature women dancers too.

Unlike regular military officials, the Royal Guardsmen are uniquely dressed.

Their uniform consists of a prominent black bearskin cap. A red stripe runs down the seams of their dark blue trousers, held together with a white leather belt.

A scarlet red tunic with white strips, coupled with a dark blue collar, and blue and white cuffs, make up their upper garment. Gold buttons bearing the Queen’s insignia adorn the front.

Buses have been used as a mode of public transport in London since 1829, when George Shillibeer started operating a horse-drawn omnibus service from Paddington to the City of London. In the decades since their introduction, the red London bus has become a symbol of the city.

The England is very amazing country and it is rich in interesting legends. We think that I will continue learning this wonderful language and we hope we will learn more about culture, history, religion and life in the homeland of this language .
