Welsh love spoon .
A favorite souvenir for the tourists is a Welsh love spoon . They are made of wood and are carved very beautifully. Originally, they were made by young men as a love token for their sweethearts. If the girl kept this present, all was well, but if she sent it back, she did not want him .

Wales is «the land of castles». The Normans were the first to build castles here. The town has a castle Romans, modern shopping center , the cathedral and the university.
There are more than 600 castles in Wales. That's more castles per square mile than any other country in the world.
King Arthur and knight of round table
King Arthur and His Knights of the Round Table is a retelling of the Arthurian legends, principally Thomas Malory's Le Morte d'Arthur , by Roger Lancelyn Green. It was intended for children. It was first published by Puffin Books in 1953 and has since been reprinted many times . In 2008, it was reissued in the Puffin Classics series with an introduction by David Almond (the author of Clay , Skellig , Kit's Wilderness , and The Fire-Eaters ), and the original illustrations by Lotte Reiniger.
Excalibur
Excalibur is the mythical sword of King Arthur that may possess magical powers or be associated with the rightful sovereignty of Britain. Its first reliably datable appearance is found in Geoffrey of Monmouth's Historia Regum Britanniae . Excalibur as the "sword in the stone" functioning as the proof of Arthur's lineage is an iconic motif featured throughout most works dealing with Arthur's youth since its introduction in Robert de Boron's Merlin . The sword given to the young Arthur by the Lady of the Lake in the tradition that began soon afterwards with the Post-Vulgate Cycle is not the same weapon, but in Le Morte d'Arthur both of them share the name of Excalibur. Several similar swords and other weapons also appear within Arthurian texts, as well as in other legends.
National sport
The national game of Wales is Rugby . It is similar to football but played with an oval ball. Players can carry the ball and tackle each other.
Cnapan is a form of Medieval football. It may be a forerunner to modern rugby. The game is no longer played.
Other popular sports in Wales are: cricket and football.
Eisteddfod

It is one of the most ancient and the most popular festivals.
It is a competition where the winner is awarded a chair where he is crowned. Winners of local Eisteddfod compete a Royal National Eisteddfod of Wales .
In Ancient times the prizes awarded were a miniature silver chair to the poet, a silver tongue to the best singer.
Traditional Welsh costume
For the ladies the typical Welsh costume consists of a hat, made of black felt, with a high crown and wide brim, which is worn over a lace cap. A red flannel shawl is worn over a crisp white blouse, and a full skirt made of wool with a black and white check pattern and a starched, white apron.
Proper Welsh ladies always wore black woolen stockings and black shoes and carried a basket, made from willow withies.
Traditional food in Wales
Welsh Cawl
Welsh cuisine encompasses the cooking styles, traditions and recipes associated with Wales. While there are many dishes that can be considered Welsh due to their ingredients and history, dishes such as cawl, Welsh rarebit, lave bread, Welsh cakes, bara brith and Glamorgan sausage have all been regarded as symbols of Welsh food. Some variation in dishes exists across the country, with notable differences existing in the Gower Peninsula, a historically isolated rural area which developed self-sufficiency in food production.

Megalithic monuments in Wales
Wales is home to one of the best collections of megalithic tombs in the UK. As well as being visually dramatic, they provide an important source of information about life, and death, from over five thousand years ago . The earliest monuments to survive to the present day are megalithic tombs - stone burial chambers, built almost six thousand years ago.
Wales's megalithic tombs consist, for the most part, of stone chambers composed of a large capstone perched on top of a number of uprights. These would once have been covered with a mound of earth or stone. Often they have a forecourt area in which ceremonies would have been performed.

The land of my fathers
The land of my fathers, the land of my choice, The land in which poets and minstrels rejoice; The land whose stern warriors were true to the core, While bleeding for freedom of yore.
Wales! Wales! favorite land of Wales! While sea her wall, may naught befall To mar the old language of Wales.
Old mountainous Cambria, the Eden of bards, Each hill and each valley, excite my regards; To the ears of her patriots how charming still seems, The music that flows in her streams.
My country the' crushed by a hostile array, The language of Cambria lives out to this day; The muse has eluded the traitors' foul knives, The harp of my country survives.
