Find out where your interests and talents lie. First start with you, make a list of your interests, talents and abilities. Most people have a lot of these, but at the beginning they are undeveloped and may not seem outstanding. By concentrating on a few, you may surprise yourself at how good you can get.

Nowadays there is a real problem; a real problem for millions of people is to be unemployed. Unemployment especially hits poor and working class families the hardest, because they don't have financial resource. The problem of unemployment is also connected with the economic crisis in our country.

The engine lathe consists essentially of the following basic parts: the bed, the headstock, the tailstock, the feed mechanism, and the carriage.

The tailstock located at the right-hand side of the bed, is a casting carrying a non-rotating sleeve, which together with the nut can be advanced or retracted by means of the tailstock revolving screw operated by the hand wheel. The tailstock may be moved anywhere along the lathe bed and can be clamped in place at any point. On changing the position, the tailstock slides along the two inner bed ways one of which named flat way is of rectangular cross-section and the other one is of V — section. The tailstock sleeve mounts a hollow spindle with a standard taper bore for holding the lathe centers or tapered tool shanks. The dead centre fits may be removed by retracting the sleeve, thereby bringing the end of the tailstock screw against the rear of the centre and forcing it out. The tailstock spindle has a large area bearing in both the front and rear of the tailstock. To facilitate measurement of the spindle travel the tailstock spindle is graduated.

Choose a profession

There are many types of jobs to choose from. How do you know which careers and jobs are out there for you? You don’t want to find yourself doing a job you don’t like. Pick a general career field, such as office work, computers, pedagogic, medicine. Recognizing your abilities, interests, skills, experience and education will point you the right direction. Satisfaction and success will greatly depend on how well your skills and abilities match the job.

Everyone possesses hundreds of skills, whether or not we use them every day. Almost everything requires some abilities, at home, on the job, or even during leisure time. Although we rarely think about the skills we have, how we use them, or which one we enjoy the most.

An occupation usually refers to a general area of employment and may include many specific jobs and tasks. You will most likely change jobs many times within an occupation, and you may change occupations during your lifetime. All jobs in the occupation are not alike.

Brief description: the Installer is a person who is engaged in installing, connecting, fixing and connection of various building elements, plumbing, ventilation systems, heating systems, boilers, appliances, etc. Many technicians responsible for the installation. Varieties of this profession, there are so many, so as to mount a lot.

The history of the profession: in Ancient Egypt buildings were mounted from a separate large elements with the help of lifting mechanisms. It is safe to call the people making such building blocks and slabs, the installers. The method of block building was erected Phoenician temples in several areas of the Mediterranean. These objects are already 6000 years. Ships and boats of that time also had a lot of gadgets and mechanisms to improve the maneuverability of the vessel and even for defense against an enemy. So, someone was engaged in the installation of such equipment. To explain simply, the installer of a certain type of equipment appeared when he invented a particular type of equipment, structures.

The Millwright uses these and other skills to build concrete foundations for heavy equipment, assemble new machines, and replace worn parts. They must have knowledge of building materials in order to construct the foundation in different types of flooring. The Millwright must know how to operate hoists, jacks, and other rigging devices. In smaller construction plants the Millwright may also do much of the plumbing, electrical work, carpentry and routine repair work. Most Millwrights work in larger plants and they are then able to specialize in one area.

The Millwright may choice to work for firms that specialize in installing one type of machinery. In this manner they can be specialized in the field that they prefer such as working for a firm that has paper mill equipment or automobile assembly line conveyors for instance gives them the opportunity to just stick with that type of Millwright work. A Millwright may be an expert machine mover and installer, while another Millwright may focus on just being the installer. Then there are those Millwrights who prefer to specialize in maintenance work.

Employment

Getting a job is a very hard period in the life of most people. Companies choose an employee from hundreds of candidates according to special rules, that's why there're special 'typical' factors, influencing on employer's choice. Among such factors are: age, sex, experience, family background and marital status, personality and references. If you're to go to an interview tomorrow, sleep well before it and don't forget your CV at home - is the basic rule. Moreover, there're some recommendations, which can help you, for example, to read annual report, or company newspaper of the company to show your understanding of the corporate strategy on the interview. What's more, you should choose corresponding dress code for the interview. Even such advices are to help you make a good impression; some companies don't want to hire a man, who follows every advice. To illustrate this, I can quote Artemiy Lebedev, the most famous Russian web-designer: "If you enclose a standard stupid resume, written by the rules of American bureaucracy, we would delete it immediately after receiving. If your CV is composed according to all rules, we wouldn't choose you, as we might think, that your profession is to acquire a job". After getting a job, you may have some unexpected troubles with boss, too: e.g. if you dye your hair or wear something not appropriate. The best solution of such situation is to ask a trade union for advice, which can always help you in your fight with an employer. Of course, if you affect company discipline not coming in time or working badly, your dismissal wouldn't be unfair. To conclude, I can say that it is sometimes hard not only to get a job, but also to work in the staff, and if you don't want to be laid off, you should follow company rules, it is a must.

Equipment

As well as the lathe, a well-equipped turner’s workspace will have a handsaw, chainsaw, cut-off saw, table saw, grinder, sharpening jigs, power drill, air compressor, belt sander, disc sander, drill press, waste bin and possibly a vacuum line for chucking. You might want some specialist kit such as carving tools. All must be in a convenient position for use. Outside, you may even want a kiln for drying timber.

Some tools, even new ones, may need an overhaul before they work properly. Once upon a time, a manufacturer would make it his business to see that tools were ready for use when sold. Now even some well-known suppliers leave it to the customer to finish the work. Sometimes people struggle with newly-purchased equipment, blaming themselves for its poor performance. If necessary, you might want to get help from someone with experience of woodworking machinery. Cheap grinders and handsaws for example may need extensive adjustment and even modification before they can be used.

A radio is a help if you spend much time on routine turning.

You will need a worktable and the usual hand tools. There should be a sharpening area. If you want to hone the tools, ideally there should be a dedicated small bench or table at a comfortable height, with the grinder higher. Some people use a mobile stand, which can be convenient as long as it’s stable.

The turning tools themselves need to be kept to hand. You will find that they accumulate, but you will probably not use all the ones you buy. Although turning does not actually need a lot of turning tools, people can’t resist buying or making them anyway.

1. Read the text and write down the direction of storage turner’s equipment:

The Storage. Don’t keep anything in the workspace that is not used for woodturning. Bicycles and lawnmowers will get in the way and make it harder to clean up the shavings. Contrary to popular belief, you can have too many tools and too much wood – if they aren’t used, they can hinder your work. Try not to keep stuff that ‘might come in handy’. The space is more valuable, and you will have that every day.

Well organized storage is a great help. Everything you need should have its place, and be retrievable. Small items should mainly be kept in drawers, because open shelves are traps for dust and chips, and shallow drawers are easier to access than cupboards. If you have a table saw, it’s easy to make simple chests of drawers to fit odd spaces in the workshop. Recommend you number the drawers and keep an up to date alphabetical list of each item in them. Better than spending half a day hunting for something.

Don’t keep things on the floor, at least near the lathe. There is a lot of sweeping to do around the lathe and a clear floor makes it much easier.

Metal-cutting Machines Lather

A lathe is known to be essentially a machine tool for producing and finishing surfaces of work pieces. The machine is designed to hold and revolve work around an axis of rotation so that it may be subjected to the action of a cutting tool moving in a horizontal plane through the axis of the work. When the cutting tool moves in a longitudinal direction or parallel to the axis, the operation is known as "turning"; when it moves in a transverse direction, it is known as "facing". In addition to turning and boring, which the machine is primarily designed for, many other operations, such as drilling, threading, tapping, and, by employing special adapters grinding and milling, may be performed on a lathe.

Lathes used in shop practice are known to be of different designs and sizes. These lathes fall into various types, either according to their characteristic constructional features, or according to the work for which they are designed. The size of a lathe is determined by the diameter and length of work that may be swung between centers.

Lathes of comparatively small size, which may be mounted on a bench, are termed bench lathes, and are intended for small work of considerable accuracy; lathes provided with tools held in a resolvable turret are called "turret lathes": lathes in which work pieces to be treated are held in a chuck are known as "chucking lathes"; lathes in which most of operations are performed automatically are named "automatic lathes".
