• Moscow is the capital of Russia. It is one of the biggest and most beautiful cities in the world. Moscow is a modern city.

• Москва – столица России. Это один из крупнейших и самых красивых городов мира. Москва- современный город.

Population

• The population of the city is about 9.8 million people.

• Население города составляет 9.8 млн. человек.

Political centre

• Moscow is a political centre, where the government of the country works.

• Москва это политический центр, где работает правительство страны.

Yuri Dolgoruky

• Moscow was founded in 1147 by Yuri Dolgoruky. The total area of Moscow is about nine hundred square kilometers.

• Москва была основана в 1147 году Юрием Долгоруким. Общая площадь Москвы составляет около девятьсот квадратных километров.

A port of five seas

• Moscow is a port of five seas. The Moscow – Volga Canal links Moscow with the Baltic, White, Caspian, Black seas and the Sea of Azov.

• Москва является портом пяти морей. Канал Москва - Волга связывает Москву с Балтийским, Белым, Каспийским, Черным и Азовским морями.

Industrial centre

• Moscow is an industrial centre too. There are many factories and plants in it. One of the best – known plants produces lorries, and the other one produces cars.

• Москва является также промышленным центром. В нем есть много фабрик и заводов. Один из хорошо известных заводов производит грузовые автомобили , а другой - легковые.

• The Bolshoi Theatre is one of the famous theatres in the world.

• Большой театр один из самых знаменитых театров мира.

• If you are fond of painting, you can go to the Tretyakov Art Gallery or to the Pushkin Fine Arts Museum and see a lot of interesting portraits and landscapes there.

• The Moscow metro began its work on the 15 th of May, 1935. There were 13 stations at that time. Now it has 190 stations. Moscow metro is a beautiful and convenient one.

• Московское метро начало свою работу 15 мая 1935 года. В то время было 13 станций. Сейчас в Московском метро 190 станций. Метро красивое и удобное.

Railway stations and airports

• There are nine railway stations in Moscow and five airports around the city.

• В Москве девять железнодорожных станций и пять аэропортов.

Luzhniki

• There are many stadiums in Moscow. The Central Stadium is in Luzhniki. Many competitions and football matches are held there.

• В Москве много стадионов. Центральный стадион – Лужники. Здесь проходит большое количество различных соревнований и футбольных матчей.

Olympic village

• The Olympic village was built for the 22 nd Olympic Games in Moscow in 1980. It is a big complex for sport games.

• В 1980 году в Москве была построена Олимпийская деревня для 22 Олимпийских игр. Это очень большой спортивный комплекс.
