The object of the research:

the image of animals in Proverbs and sayings.

The subject of the research: similarities and differences between English and Russian sayings, Proverbs.

EQ: What differences and similarities have between English and Russian proverbs and sayings?

The hypothesis of the research:

• if you examine the distinctive and common features of Proverbs and sayings in Russian and English, it will help you better understand the realities of the language

• The aim: to compare and identify the similarities and differences between English and Russian Proverbs and sayings.
• Objectives: to compare Russian and English proverbs and sayings; to perform the imagery associated with various animals in English Proverbs and compare it with images of animals in the Russian language; to conduct a quantitative analysis of the frequency of mention of names of different animals in English Proverbs and their Russian equivalents.

Activities

• Activity 1

Students discuss the about project work, define essential question and problem questions. Then they create a mind map. They differentiate what are proverb and saying

Proverb

is a short sentence, usually known by many people, stating something commonly experienced or giving advice that expresses effectively some commonplace truth or useful thought.

Saying

is a well-known and wise statement made by famous people, which often has a meaning that is different from the simple meanings of the words it contains .
