Elements to Consider in a Prompt

TELL A GREAT STORY!

• You are…

• Language proficiency targets and levels

• Limit content and specify

• Provide key words or URLs to reference
• Potential modifications or variations

Step One: Provide Context → You are… Act as…Be… - include information about you, student language proficiency, unit/topic

Step Two: Define the task → What is your goal? Use action words and provide specific details with what you would like to be designed

Step Three: Set limits and provide resources → How many words? Paragraphs? Tables? Any URLs to reference? Keywords to include?

Step Four: Clarify → Be sure to include the language of output for all aspects, any additional information to help strengthen your output to match your expectations

Step Five: Refine → Provide feedback if you are not 100% with creation, make it longer. stronger, more engaging, creative, etc.
