Safety rules in a workshop

When entering workshop, pick up your hearing and eye protectors and immediately report to the workshop supervisor. Always listen carefully to the teacher and follow his instructions. When learning how to use a machine, listen very carefully to all the instructions given by the teacher. Ask questions, especially if you do not fully understand. Check that any tools you have been using have been put away in the appropriate spots, cleaned up your work area and notify the workshop staff. Always use a guard when working on a machine. Do not use a machine if you have not been shown how to operate it safely by the teacher.

Remove rings and loose jewellery before operating machinery they can be a hazard.

Safety in the workshops is subject to a number of various risk assessments and safe codes of working practices which have to be observed and adhered to by all workshop users and enforced by the person in charge of these areas. Due to high risk activities taking place in the workshops access to these areas is restricted to authorised personnel only. No other person may enter the workshops without permission. Moreover, you should follow some rules. For example, always wear protective clothing. You must wear safety helmet, protective footwear and gloves, ear and eye protection. Other protective equipment must be worn as directed by a teacher. Do not wear gloves, loose-fitting clothing, baggy sleeves, dangling jewellery, or neck ties that could become entangled in machinery.

You may not eat and smoke in the workshop. You have to turn off your phone. You do not have to run in the workshop
