SIGHTS OF MOSCOW
Moscow
Yes, of course. There are many towns and cities in my country. Russia, the largest
country in the world, with the total area of about 17 million square kilometers, is located in Eastern
Europe and north Asia ,Russia stretches from the Baltic Sea to the Pacific Ocean, and from the
Arctic Ocean to the Black Sea. It is bordered by Norway, Finland, Mongolia, China the former
republics of the USSR. The Volga, the country ’ s most important river, flows into the Caspian Sea
. Among the longest mountain chains of Russia are the Urals, separations Europe from Asia.
Russia is a highly-industrialized-agrarian country, with vast mineral resources.
Three-quarters of the republic ’ s mineral wealth is concentrated is Siberia and includes oil, natural gas,
coal, gold and other non ferrous metals. The population engaged in agriculture, produce grain, meat and
dairy products.
Russia is a presidential republics the judicial power in the country belongs to the Federal Assembly.

The history of Moscow Kremlin
Moscow has rich and interesting history.
I advise you to begin sightseeing
of Moscow with the Kremlin.
Moscow was founded by Yury Dolgoruky and
it was first mentioned in the chronicle in 1147.
At first under Ivan Kalita the city was encircled
by oak logs.
In 1365 Prince Dolgoruky ordered to build them
of white stone and only then the walls were
built of red brick, as we can see them today.
By the15th century Moscow had become an
important city and
Ivan III invited Italian architects to
build new cathedrals. Since then
Moscow became the capital of the
united state of Russia.
There are 21 towers in the Kremlin, everybody knows Spasskaya Tower with
a star on the peak and the clock known as Kuranty. The tallest is Troitskaya Tower, it is 81 metres tall.
The oldest one is Taininskaya Tower which has an underground passage to the Moskva-river.
Kutaphya Tower is the lowest tower in the Kremlin.
The walls of the Kremlin are 2,235 metres long and 5-12 metres high.
The main square in the Kremlin is Cathedral Square with three grand cathedrals and
Ivan the Great Bell Tower.
Assumption Cathedral was the burial place of Russian tsars.
The heart of Moscow is Red Square where we can see Mausoleum
and St. Basil ’ s Cathedral with its seven domes, each of different colour.
Now Moscow is being reconstructed and it will become more beautiful and interesting.
RED SQUARE
ST. BASIL`S CATHEDRAL
St. Basil's Cathedral is one of the most outstanding monuments of Old Russian architecture. It's a Russian Orthodox church erected on the Red Square in Moscow in 1555–61. It was built on the order of Ivan the Terrible to commemorate the capture of Kazan and Astrakhan. It was the tallest building in Moscow until the completion of the Ivan the Great Bell Tower in 1600.
CATHEDRAL OF CHRIST THE SAVIOR
The Cathedral of Christ the Savior is the main religious attraction of Moscow. The Cathedral was consecrated on the very day Alexander III was crowned, 26 May 1883. A year earlier, Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture debuted there. With an overall height of 105 metres (344 ft), it is the tallest Orthodox church in the world.
MOSCOW STATE UNIVERSITY
Moscow State University is the oldest in Russia. The University is the largest university in Russia and was founded in 1755. More than 40 000 students (graduate and postgraduate) and about 7 000 undergraduates study at the university, and over 5 000 specialists do the refresher course here.
POKLONNAYA HILL
Poklonnaya Hill is one of the highest spots in Moscow. It unites two great wars - the Napoleonic War and World War II. Since 1936, the area has been part of Moscow and now contains the Victory Park with many tanks and other vehicles used in the Second World War on display. Historically, the hill had great strategic importance, as it commanded the best view of the Russian capital.
OSTANKINO TOWER
Ostankino Tower is a free-standing television and radio tower in Moscow, Russia. Standing 540 metres tall, Ostankino was designed by Nikolai Nikitin in 1967. Ostankino Tower is the tallest tower in Europe. Besides technical services, there is a sightseeing platform and a three-level restaurant «The Seventh Sky».
THE BOLSHOI THEATRE
The Bolshoi Theatre is a historic theatre in Moscow, Russia, designed by architect Joseph Bové. It was built in 1824. It was the second biggest theatre in the world. The Bolshoi Ballet and Bolshoi Opera are amongst the oldest and most renowned ballet and opera companies in the world. Many outstanding opera singers and ballet dancers have performed at the Bolshoi.
MONUMENT TO MININ AND POZHARSKY
Built in 1818 this monument is devoted to the citizen Minin and the prince Pozharsky, who were the leaders of patriotic war against Polish invaders in 1612. On the first celebration of the Day of People's Unity (November 4, 2005) a near exact copy of this monument by Zurab Tsereteli was erected in Nizhny Novgorod. The copy is only 5 cm shorter than the Moscow original.
PUSHKIN MONUMENT
Pushkin monument is installed in Pushkinskaya Square. The monument was founded by public subscription and opened by Ivan Turgenev and Fyodor Dostoyevsky in 1880. It was the first monument to a poet in Russia. The monument is in the center of Moscow, and this is the place where lovers like to date; here different politicians hold meetings, and poetry-lovers arrange improvised concerts.
THE MOSCOW METRO
The Moscow Metro is a rapid transit system serving Moscow. Opened in 1935 with one 11-kilometre line and 13 stations, it was the first underground railway system in the Soviet Union. As of 2011, the Moscow Metro has 182 stations and its route length is 301.2 kilometers. The Moscow Metro is the world's second-most-heavily-used rapid transit system, after Tokyo's twin subway.
THE MOSKVA RIVER
The Moskva River is a river that flows through the Moscow and Smolensk Oblasts in Russia, and is a tributary of the Oka River. The length of the river is 503 km. The area of its drainage basin is 17,600 km². Maximum depth above Moscow city limits - 3 metres, and up to 6 metres below it. It's the best tourists` attraction.
I want to tell you about my city. I live in Khasavyurt. Khasavyurt is the centre
of a rich agricultural district in the west of Daghestan.
The most important industrial enterprises of the town are: a cannery, a winery,
a mixed-fodder plant, an instrument – making plant,
a garment factory, a brickyard. In Khasavyurt there are monuments to
Daghestan revolutionaries Batyrmurzayev and Kazbekov and
a monument to the soldiers , fallen in the battles of the Great Patriotic War. (слайд).
