The Musical “The Lion King” is one of the most popular musicals. It is based on an animated film by Disney (1994). The Lion King is the story of Simba. He is a cub (a baby of a lion) and he is courageous and funny. He’s got a father Mufasa and a mother. When he is born everybody knows he will be the next king of African Savanna. But there is his uncle Scar. Scar kills his father and makes Simba believe that it is Simba’s fault. He runs away. He meets Pumba and Timon and live with them till he meets Nala, his best friend. Together they come back and save savanna and animals. So Simba is the king of the African Lands. There are a lot of beautiful songs written by Elton John such as “Circle of Life,” “Hakuna Matata,” and “Can You Feel the Love Tonight”. The musical is spectacular! It’s about real love and friendship.

The Lion King is a musical based on Disney animated film with music by Elton John and lyrics by Tim Rice. There are actors in animal costumes as well as big puppets. The show is produced by Disney Theatrical Productions. The musical started on July 8, 1997 in Minneapolis. It is successful. It has got a lot of awards for example six Tony Awards, one for Best Musical and Best Direction of a Musical, making director Julie Taymor the first woman to earn such an honor. People speak 6 African languages in the musical Swahili, Zulu, Xhosa, Sotho, Tswana, Congolese. It is one of the best musicals ever!
