RADIO HISTORY

• In 1898, Sir Oliver Lodge received a patent for the use of wireless transmitters. But for some reasons Lodge did not finish his work and Alexander Popov, Russian physicist, professor, electrical engineer continued his work.

• Popov was the first who demonstrated the ability to transmit a radio signal that would carry certain information. Since that time, the era of using the radio equipment has become popular.

Some facts

* The Eiffel Tower was built specifically for the 1889 World Fair. After 20 years, it should have been dismantled. But the construction was saved by the coming era of radio communications. The tower turned out to be an indispensable object for the installation of wireless antennas.

* In the First and Second World Wars, the US Army used Indians of various tribes as radio operators. The Germans and the Japanese intercepted the messages, but could not decipher them. In World War II, the Basque language was used by the Americans for the same purpose.
